We spent 12 days there,on the big island.
Then we flew to Pearl Harbor. Quite a bit to see there.
but too many people like the Big Island much better.

It is a fun place to visit for sure.  Only problem is you can't rent a Valk to ride around the island.  :(

Glad you had a good time.

We were able to rent a Road King for two days.
It was nice , but the Hilo side of the island gets 126 inches
of rain a year.We stayed in the Kono side and they get 8
inches a year. Was 80 and sunny every day.

+1 on the non Valk rentals...rented a Ferrari for the day on Maui....it is no Valk, but it was the most fun I had on 4 wheels for $15 an hour.

Honululu is TOO big city for my liking...the rest of the islands are awesome...

Went there last year in February..... stayed at the Hale Koa   http://www.halekoa.com/splash.cfm   The Hale Koa Hotel is nestled on a 72-acre tropical oasis fronting the finest stretch of beach in Waikiki and is Military oriented.   We got to take a few tours and sight see, but the weather mid way thru turned colder and rained.   I got one hell of a cold, and managed to make an unscheduled visit to see a Dr at Tripler Army Medical Center.... while the others in our group toured the Dole Plantation.  They treated a Military Retiree pretty darn good.   Pearl Harbor was great, and moving as usual.  I visited there twice on my final tour in the Navy.....  I was on the Nimitz then and we had a beach party on the beach at the Hale Koa.

Nice place to visit... but don't think I would want to live there.  Lots of traffic and even on a Valkyrie, you can only go so far....

I lived there for almost 3 years.  I was stationed on the USS Omaha out of Pearl Harbor.  SSN-692.  I was ready to get the hell off there that was for sure.  Although I did only own a MC for a long time there.  My wife and I had 1 car... and 1 bike.  it was a CB-650 Nighthawk.  Put about 30K on that bike in 2 years.

The dirt bike riding there was AWESOME though.  Flat out AWESOME.

I passed through there early in life on the uss forrestal
back in the 60s after the fire.
Don,t like to think about it because I was a Corpsman
and saw some good people die and get hurt real bad.
This trip made me see it a new.

Dave,
I glad you went, thanks for sharing the news but wonder where all the pics are.  I was also wondering why I didn't get a call.  I'd have been happy to come along and carry your baggage or something trivial.  ;)

Hey Dave, glad you had a good trip.  That much time in Hawaii?  Sure you don't reside at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave?
How much fun can I have before I have to go to hell?

Sounds great.

Never made it to the big island but went to Maui several years back as a 50th birthday gift from my sis & bro-in-law. Would probably never had made it otherwise. My son's gift was an Ultra Classic rental and we cruised the road to Hana. A great and recommended run all round.

Here's a handfull of teaser shots until Dave can get his pic's up. Hit a little rain but that's expected.

My wife and I were lucky enough to get to Hawaii about 10 years ago...seeing the pics brought back memories.  I hope we can get there again some day.

Walking on  Waikiki Beach

View from our condo rental on Maui - spent a couple evenings with a Hienekin and a good cigar watching the sunset

Sunset view from Jimmy Buffett's restaurant:  Cheeseburger in Paradise on Maui

And a "bucket list" ride on a rental bike all over Maui
