I've owned a Mustang's driver seat and back rest and yours doesn't look like what I had. The mounting post was chrome and there was an adjustment mechanism associated with it. The shape of the pad itself was different too, oblong.  :-\
My rides:

I don't know the Mustang backrests, but this one looks home-made to me.

I concur with Salty Joe, it does not look like Mustang at all.

However, the upright bar stock looks to be the same size/shape as the Mustang upright, and if so, should fit the slots in Mustang solos (made to accept backrests) and the Ultimate Lowboy (but not Bigboy or Kingboy).  The lack of the thumbscrew angle adjustment may make it hard to fit a rider though.  I run a Mustang backrest in my Ultimate lowboy (better fit for me than the Ultimate backrest)

I was just going by what I was told from the man I bought the crashed bike from...He said it was a Mustang.  I did'nt get the seat with the buy. I'm not sure if I've ever seen a Mustang seat and backreast on a Valkyrie  :-\   Anyone with pictures with this style mount please comment with pictures if possible.....Thanks Jess for the picture   :cooldude:  Do you have one that show's it mounted and what the seat " slot " looks like ?

Joe

I just e mailed you three pictures of my Mustang backrest, on the bike and off of it.
It sure looks different then this one in your pictures, although the width of the shaft (keep it clean here)
looks about the same.

Hope this helps

The driver's seat backrest slot in the top rear is usually covered with a Velcro tab (when unused).

And note, some Mustang backrests: (Roadking) has it's own mount to fender under the seat, and others have the driver's backrest mounted in the front of the matching Mustang passenger pillion.  What you have is for a solo seat with a rear slot (with or without a passenger pillion).

Thanks for the pictures Jess and Bill ....What do you think this one is ( homemade  ???  ) .
It will fit the Ultimate Lowboy and the Mustang I have a Ultimate Big Boy on my blue bike so I know it won't fit that and I have Corbin on my other bikes and it won't fit them either.

Mustang and Ultimate Lowboy it will work.....I'm glad I posted this before making the deal ...Thanks men  :)

Joe I have a mustang also and agree with the others. It is not a mustang and it does look homemade.  Ps Joe, I always wanted to ask on 1 of your valks I think the yellow and white 1 or it could be 1/2 breed. you have chrome lettering in the lower part of the windshield.  Where do you get something like that?  Is it S.S or Alum?  Thanks.

Joe I run a mustang back rest with my big boy seat,I don't think there is any difference in a low boy or a big boy seat as far as backrest, the king does use a different backrest.

Then maybe I have the King cause its a square bar that attaches the backrest on it....I bought it used and trashed out from a VRCC member then had it recovered always thought it was a BigBoy .

I believe, that earlier Bigboy's came with the square bar backrest upright, though they may now be the same slot mount bar as on Lowboy.

My older Bigboy also has the square bar mount Joe. It is not a kingboy.

Close, but not quite there.

The older Ultimates used a square post.  The newer ones use the flat bar.

I have one Lowboy with the square post and one lowboy with the flat bar.

I do remember some one saying that the older ultimate seat did use a squarge post like the corbin seat did, the new ultimate seats use the flat one except for the king which bolts to the fender, sorry about the confusion, can't wait to share some more wind with yoy guys. Ride Safe
