Alternator

My brother has a 1997 standard Valk (he's not registered on this site so I'm asking for him) with 30k on the clock. His alternator has recently failed twice within a few months with 2 different faults. The contact posts seem to be breaking which maybe just a sign of age. Can anyone recommend a higher spec alternator that may cope better. He has spots, heated grips, sat nav etc so maybe pulling too much current for the standard issue.
As an additional problem, we are in the UK and finding it hard to get parts for the Valks so if anyone knows of any good suppliers we would be very interested.

Get a MARS High Output alternator.  Search the archives.  It has been mentioned a number of times here.

Actually the Valk alternator can handle a lot more electric pull than that..I'm sure someone that knows more on this will chime in....Rock on...

Have the alternator rebuilt by a  competent rebuild shop.
Usually a commercial truck repair facility can steer you to a quality rebuild.
Any electrical componant can die a quick death,even a new quality part.
I've had better luck having my stuff rebuilt,at a considerable savings.

try this guy for complete units or parts, not sure what your costs may be with import tax on parts from US but it may be worthwhile.
