Ebay question

I don't do much ebay buying, usually one or two things every 2-3 years, and can't remember from the last time I bought something.  I won an electrical bit for my car in an auction on friday for 25 cents more than the owners starting bid, and havent heard anything yet other than the automated emails from ebay telling me that I won and to pay and to leave feedback.  Is it normal to not hear anything from the seller???

Unfortunately, often times that's the case. I don't participate too often but have bought some bike parts and tools from E-bay. If I win, I usually make prompt payment(Paypal works great and gives you some protection). Then the seller can't have an excuse to give me bad ratings.

Usually sellers like good feedback themselves. I reserve feedback for them until the item is in my hands and it's what was advertised.

Thats my same way of doing things, I paid with paypal within about 30 min of the end of the auction. On a positive note the seller has 100% feedback rating for 162 transactions.  I guess I'll just have to see what happens.  IMHO the lack of contact from the seller is unprofessional.

I wouldn't read anything into it.  He might not be there, or doesn't monitor the results of every sale immediately, or doesn't have the time to comm a lot with each sale.  You are getting a better price than a brick and morter store because his overhead is less.  All he is committed to do is ship the product that meets the description of the ad, within the time frame he committed to in the ad.  Not to comm with you.  Not unusual at all.  I usually ship small products using Priority Mail & paypal / ebay shipping (ebay recently took over part or all of the latter, re the label creation - which gets the product marked shipped) and that results in shipping advice going to the buyer via email automatically.

I buy stuff on ebay all the time. Last week I purchased 4 items alone.  I have also purchased my valk, a Yamaha Venture, a 66 Chevy Nova and recently a Can Am Spyder for my wife.  Although, with these rather expensive purchases I am talking with the seller before I buy.  Usually, I rarely hear anything from the seller except an automated message saying I won the item.  I agree with wiggydotcom to wait until you get the item to leave feedback.

I here ya but...from the persons track record I would say it is a non issue.  Especially with the holiday weekend the mail won't run anyway so there may be no since of urgency on their part.  Personally I have turned to Craig's List only because I can touch it before paying...
