I visited their showroom near Charlotte... There was a red one there with hard bags called a Tourer...
Lots of nice Chrome (chromed brembo calipers, stuff like that)... I liked it - not as much as I like my beater

the first year model sold well even when no one knew what it was. Sales have been increasing last I heard. Up close that is a good looking bike. It has built in acc connectors for heated gear and/or battery tenders. 
I like the bike, not the price tag, and I still wish they'd build the tractor style in line four from back in the day...

Local Indian Dealership had a big Open House with Test Rides.  They look sweet, great fit and finish... but the power and ride leaves very much to be desired.  It made me appreciate my VTX and Valkyrie much much more.

I thought the MoCo had the "look at me, I overpaid for this bike" market cornered.  

Oh well, I bet they will have a GREAT resale value. I know I look for that in a bike purchase.


What $12K bought us.... Not much "heritage, tradition, & mystique" here but I'll take the 100HP and reliability that they do have anyday!

The Indian inline four was adapted from the Henderson Inline that was aquired by Indian Motorcycles. They changed the intake and exhaust valve configuration, but retained the basic design with great success. I believe R.J. often talks about riding one when he was younger.

There is a UK company that owns the rights to this design and has been producing it under the name "Dakota". They are nice looking machines and I believe they've been making these for several years.

Oh yeah...wow.
That is the bike that Indian should have built stateside...a version of that. (yes, I read they were seperate companies with seperate R&D and liscencing in the earlier post).

It's like a slick mean looking Rocket III. Shaft drive!

 :uglystupid2:a straight 4 with no radiator? is it supposed to cool it self by magic? i d hate to be #4 piston it must get pretty hot back there! can you imagine being stuck in traffic with THAT!!

I used to ride an old original Indian 4, this was back in the late 50s.  At night you could look down and that single exhaust would be white hot, almost like an neon tube.  Had spark advance on one grip, and throttle on the other.  Stick shift with what they used to call a suicide clutch.  Was not bad to kickstart if you set throttle and spark correctly, but if you didnt it would kickback something awefull.  That thing would run strong though, as long as you fed it the right amount of advance, it would haul.
