Front Wheel Installion ooops

Alright .. for anyone of middle level mechanical abilities (such as myself) with more tools than you REALLY know how to use (like me again) ... and with just enough knowledge to be dangerous (again myself as an example), here is a warning.

When replacing a front wheel after maintenance (such as replacing fork seals), the one thing the manual does NOT show is :

1. Ensure that the axle is FULLY seated on the left hand fork before tightening pinch bolts

2. Craftsman 3/8" ratchet extension make good driver pins .. but they do fit INSIDE the axle from the left side (including the bulge that hold the female socket potion).

mine is flush with the left fork.  I have always just tapped it in until it is flush again.

If the axle end is not flush with the left fork, the rivet heads on the left rotor will drag on the caliper housing...there aint much clearance. I think 0.030 max...gotta be flush.

The hexagonal hole on the left end of front axle is for a 17mm hex key wrench to hold axle in place while tigthening right side axle bolt.  I found this out last weekend myself
