From what I've read and from the guys in the chat room, I believe I have a rear bearing and/or spline problem.  I'm staying with a friend that has all the tools but I'm not sure I can do the work.  Any suggestions?  Thanks. JD

Hope one of those previous posts helped.  When you're up and running ... don't leave San Diego without checking out Coronado Is and running the Valk up the S1 (from I-8) through Mount Laguna and a lunch stop in Julian (if you haven't already).  Running the coast from Camp Pendleton back to San Diego is worth the ride too.

Not stuck anymore!!! Thanks to all for the help.  I put a request out to the SoCal chapter.  Big Mac helped me out.  The spline assembly was completely dry and it was just beginning to show signs of wear. Big Mac took it all apart, inspected it, lubed it, put it back together...and synchd my carbs.   Thanks again to all.
