I wish Glock, Sig Sauer, & Smith & Wesson had the balls to get on board and refuse to do business with police in states that enact the gun grab legislation.  But they won't, they have a responsibility first to their stockholders, not the people in general. I'm gratified Ronnie Barrett has taken a stand in that way - but Glock and Sig are really the companies whose small arms the cops use. Though I note the biggest maker of AR15's have done the same.  Though that's not Colt, who makes the M16, used by SWAT teams but not be general police so much. The CO Demonazis elected by all the Californicators who got sick of the state they ruined and moved here, and now are doing their best to make CO like the CA they left, are passing the most onerous laws yet.  And that demo dirtbag Hickenlooper is signing them all.  A big magazine company located here says they will leave - I'm thinking Magpul but I could be wrong on that.  Right now there's a big push to flood the state with larger magazines to make the grab less effective.  There is a grandfather clause on the mags.  I'm not going to mention here my situation, with the grabbers watching posts like this for future confiscation lists.

I stopped in at a new local gun store I had not visited yet last week.  I noted a Remington 870 with pistol grip - basically a home defense gun - was on consignment for $300.  Though the price sounded OK - it had been neglected, the finish was rusty.  Checking prices online, I'd put it at $200 tops.  But this new law will probably push it up.  Wouldn't surprise me if somebody has scarfed it up by now.  Definitely needed professional refinish work, and don't know about the condition inside.  Action felt OK.  I'm going to go to the Tanner gun show in 2 weeks, see what's there.

My 2nd CCW permit is expiring in May - was notified by the sheriff, who said there's a big push going on, better get it done early as the line is getting longer.  They are good for 5 years here. So I took care of that last week.  Might take 6 weeks or so to get the new one in my hands.  Meanwhile the grabbers are working on that too.

My old police trade in 870 was not rusty (surface only), but finish half gone and shiny all over.  I just wiped it down with 4-O steel wool and gun oil.  I like the look.  It works just fine.

Anyone who knows me knows where I stand on this.

What I will say is, federally I think we can and will win on this. I don't think congress can get a semi-auto ban passed. I hope they can't get a magazine ban passed. I'm worried they may pass something which requires every firearm transaction (parent to child, private sale, gift, loan) to be OK'd by the government. That would almost surely lead to registration, which would enable confiscation.

It would also probably lead to the outlawing of kids hunting since no one under 18 can buy a rifle and shotgun from a dealer because of federal law. Their goal and hope is obviously to break the tradition of firearms ownership and hunting in American families which would enable their long term goal of civilian disarmament.

Much the way they slowly got us used to seat-belts before going in for the kill. That's why every infringement of our freedom has to be fought.

But, if Obama gets to replace even one of the supreme court judges who voted for our rights, all may be lost.

As far as the individual states go, I've got no idea what will happen. I would think since semi-autos and high cap magazines are in common use. A ban could be fought to the supreme court. However, if the makeup of the court changed while it was being litigated, again, all could be lost.

Just my take on it, it's worth what you paid for it.

The difference is we're still (for the moment) allowed to have guns......Its still our right.  Its not a God given right to make meth, and its illegal.  When and if guns are banned (made illegal) they will not come get them right away...they will demand you turn them in or be a criminal.  So keeping your big fat mouth shut right now wont really matter.  Maybe after they are banned and thousands and thousands are turned in, they might go after people boasting to still have them.  Thats when you keep quiet and hope you never need to use one.

Living in the uber liberal state of new York there are already several gun manufacturers that will not sell to ny government or law enforcement agencies. The list I believe is up to about six companies and growing. Keeping my fingers crossed it helps. And until the law changes it appears someone broke in and stole all our guns. I agree. Seems like if the folks that move here from other states don't want to fit in with Colorado values they should go back to where they came from. I moved here from Illinois (please don't hold it against me!) 30 some years ago and I adopted the lifestyle here. I sure don't want to change CO into Ill. or California:crazy2:
I read that the effect of Magpul leaving would be 200 employees (600 including their suppliers) and $85 mil in yearly state revenue.
I just sent my CCW last week and they (Larimar Co. Sheriff) said it would probably take 6-8 weeks because of all the applications lately.
Should anyone reading this post wonder, I don't have any guns.

Just for future reference on the subject of gun confiscation/registration, which I hope no one will ever need, should the authorities ever come to your house about firearms, you ask if they have a warrant, if they do stand aside (or lock and load, whichever you chose).  

If they have no warrant do not let them in the door or consent to a search.   And whether they have a warrant or not, do not talk with them.  Do not answer any questions at all.  No stories on theft, break-ins, boating accidents, or sold them all.... nothing, stone silence.  Virtually anything you say will lead them in a direction for further investigation, or assist them in drafting a warrant application for a judge to consider signing.

The whole family must understand this strategy, it is common to split everyone up and question them separately.  

I do not agree that silence is always the best policy in all cases, far from it, esp if you have done no wrong or have done a only a little wrong..... but in this situation, silence gives them nothing (including a false police report).

I sympathize with you guys.  Following this thread has been interesting.
