Here is an e-mail I got

James, My name is Christopher Horrar, I am a sales associate with Harley-Davidson of Louisville. Your information was forwarded to me via our sweeps program. I just wanted to touch base with you because you expressed interest in Harley-Davidson motorcycles and are in fact currently riding a buell. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the dealer and see what Harley has to offer. If you are interested in trading in your buell bring it along and we'll do an appraisal while you're here. If you have any questions or would like to set up a time to come in you can reach me via email at chorrar@harley-davidsonlouisville.com or on the phone at the dealer at 502-634-1340.

Thanks, Christopher Horrar Proffessional Sales Associate

My response

Hey Christopher so glad you could take the time to e-mail me. I'm not sure how you got the information that I ride a Buell, but it isn't true. I'm sure that my e-mail came your way from the various sweepstakes type sign ups that littered the recent bike show I attended. While I do like some of what Harley Davidson has to offer, the chance to win a new bike greatly makes them even more appealing. That being said, if I were a rich man, I'd have a fleet of bikes and am sure at least one of them would be a Harley. As it is, I'm not a rich man so I ride one of the best bikes ever made. A Honda Valkyrie.
Best wishes Jim

So......You had already sold the Buell? Ha that's funny. I'd like to see his expression when he sees it.

Some like to ride Fat boys, I think I'll stay with the fat lady

I'm pretty sure your response went straight to the trash can but, I'm just as sure it felt good writing it.

Can't say I agree with being rich and buying an HD, I might but sincerely doubt it.  I'm just not into V Twins, doesn't matter who builds them.  But, that's just me, everyone has an opinion.  ;)  I ride with several friends who have HDs, I don't mind waiting on them.

Jim,
Nope, I fully got the gist, I grew up on a ranch, we always culled the bad ones out of the herd.  ;)

Yeah, well I'm not opposed to owning a Harley. Just wouldn't be my first, second or even third choice if buying :coolsmiley: However, if I could win one,  that might change the scenario, then again I could sell it and buy something else. I'm also not opposed to v-twins. If I were in the market for one new ( lots of hypothetical here ), I'd be at the Victory store before I would be at the Harley store.

I always tell the Harley snobs that if I were ever given a brand new Harley, I would sell it. I would then use the money to buy a nice new Honda and have enough left over for a cage to drive in the winter. :cooldude:

I had three Harleys before ending up with the Valkyrie.
The last Harley was a 95th Road King ( bought new for $35,000 AU ) which did in the big ends at 30,000 km & Harley didnt want to know me.
The con rods now hold up books in the bookcase.
The problem is that they believe their own promotional material.
I agree that the Valkyrie is the best cruiser ever made & at 80,000 km is running a sweet as ever.

Yours is NOT the FIRST warranty complaint i've heard of about Hardly Davidson. And it is NOT a new problem. A friend of mine in Illinois in the early 70s had-Hardly quote here-an unbreakable part in the tranny break and Hardly gave him a really hard time about it and yes it was well within the warranty parameters at the time. Lets just say my bud was not happy yet he still buys them. RIDE SAFE.

You know what kind of bike a pirate rides??????????????
A Harrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrley.
I'd have another Pan Head just to ride around locally, when my back wasnt doing too bad.

Personally, I'd rather ride a Ural instead of a Harley. It's noisy, operates like a tank, and gets more attention when stopped. And I probably be able to but 2 for the price of one Harley.

Oh! I do ride a Ural.

I have a buddy who has a new Harley, I think it is a 10, not sure.

Has like 35 to 40K on it.

He has rode in the Big Get together, Rolling Thunder, 90% Harley's.

Anyway, the 1st year he owned the bike it made it to Washington DC and back.

The next year he had to borrow or rent a trailer to haul it back from just outside of DC on the way home.

Last year he borrowed my trailer to haul it home from East PA.   After much hassle and a letter from his Lawyer, they finally gave him a new engine.

Don't know if he is going this year or not on that bike, I know he will make it some way or another.   LOL
