Mike called me up Friday night asking if I wanted to ride to G&G's with him Saturday morning as he made his way to Charleston, SC for the night......I told him no, because I have a whole bunch of "To Do" items on my Spring Get-R-Done List.....I have worked my tail off on large projects at work over the last month and decided I needed some Ride time instead......so, I called him back up and said I'd changed my mind(the Ladies get to do that ALL the time....why not me?).......it's about 75 miles from my house, but I was game.....told him I'd certainly be there by 9:30am.....but maybe before that..... :-\......got up and left at 7am so I could run my green LED's in the dark.......stopped half way there for a potty break in the Granite Capital of the World.......Elberton, GA....... :cooldude:.....killed a little time, then took off again....made it there at 8:50am and got a parking spot near the Big Chicken.....

..spots were filling up fast........and I wished I had of told him 9am after all......I had to suffer for a half hour of smelling that delicious cooking odor wafting through the air.....he showed up about 9:15-20am....a little earlier than I'd told him to..... :cooldude:

I had heard some goat noises before he showed up.....there was a fenced lot across the road from the Restaurant.....the other white meat??.....

Didn't get any pics of the food.....we were too hungry to take the time....... :'(

After breakfast, I jumped in behind him as he showed me a route he'd done in his car a few weeks earlier.....stopped at this church......it was founded in 1779 and this building was built in 1853?.......

Met some friendly dogs from the house next door as we went and inspected the place a little.....

Hopped back on the bikes and took off until we came to this old house....he pulled over so we could get some shots of it in the background.....I couldn't afford to even paint a place like that, much less the other upkeep costs!......

We stopped at an intersection where an old station used to be so that he could run down the road and take a pic at a bridge sign on a busier road.....I snapped this pic of the gas sign......$1.83.......Gosh.....I'd LOVE to pay that for it now!!....... :(

We stopped at this cool, old bridge.....we had been riding beside a controlled burn area for a few miles.....he got a neat pic just a ways past this......but I took these few pics.....

There was another bridge just down from this one....we saw a couple of mountain bikers ride across it.....

A few miles further one.....we parted ways.....he took off towards Charleston and I headed towards Augusta, GA......stopped at a Mexican place for a light lunch......

Then made my way back North towards Home......stopped 45 miles from home in the little town of Washington, GA.....here's the Wilkes County Courthouse I presume?......

There's an old Hotel on the Square also.......cool architectural style........

The Fat Lady was waiting patiently to take me home .......got in about 254 miles yesterday......so much better than working...... :cooldude: :cooldude: :cooldude:

I went on another ride today.....got in another 225 miles or so....didn't take the time to take any pics today......it was just two other guys.....some co-workers....a County Attny on a Ducati 1098CC......and another guy on a blinged out Harley ......I lead us on some twisty back roads.....we ran off and left the Harley but waited on him at the intersections.....the guy on the Ducati told me at our first bathroom break that the Valk was no slouch for such a heavy bike...especially since it, myself, and the stuff in the saddlebags weigh in ~1,100lbs....he said his bike was 420lbs wet?... :-\

...never got around to my "To Do List".....but it sure as was fun and just what I needed!!!....... :cooldude:......still got 2-3 weeks of major projects to deal with at work.....then I plan on taking some vacation time!........

We got a inch of ice pellets yesterday, and they were laying down the salt and brine this morning.............. again.
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.
