Back in 1983, about the time that The Empire Strikes Back was at the theaters...

Yes, I'm a geek... But Jabba the Hutt made his first appearance in Return of the Jedi, not Empire Strikes Back (Yes, he was digitally added in to the special edition of A New Hope, but his first appearance to the public was Return of the Jedi) although the 1983 year was correct, the movie was wrong...

Sorry... I know... Just couldn't help it, kinda OCD about Star Wars, had to point that out...  :uglystupid2:
DO you guys own a BIKE ??  :-\ :-\

Hehehe... 1998 Blue/Ivory valk with 93,000 miles on it (Had 0 when I bought it) and I practically own my wife's bike since I ride it more than she does... 2004 ST1300...
Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

Popeye

One of my Rolling Thunder buddies named me because of the size of my forearms.  Couple of tattoo artists said the same thing.  Our favorite watering hole, all the bartenders call me Popeye, don't think they know my real name.

mooserider

I bought my bike from my brother a couple years ago he named it Moose Jr, his wife's gold wing is Moose his goldwing is cousin Moose. I kept the name Moose so when I joined the forum Mooserider came about.

sugerbear

friend from highschool's little sister named me, right after the commercial came out. 68-69 thereabouts.
been a cb handle for years, and handle at work by friends for years.

charligirl

My name is Charli (short for Charlene) and I didn't want to be mistaken for a guy!

:tickedoff:

Normandog

many years ago I dropped by a friends house to find a house full of my friends watching a movie about the Norman invasion of England back in 1066. The english referred to the invaders as " Norman Dogs ".
Sooooo, since my last name is Norman. I was Normandog for a while after that.
Bought a valk in '03, joined this club and since a valkyrie is a Nordic goddess I ressurected the nickname.

Mine started as a Cowboy Action Shooting handle...came up with that one because I got into the game in the late '80s while stationed at Camp Pendleton.  Many of the best shooters in the sport back then shot at the same S. California matches I was going to and, did I ever feel slow!  Slow as ________.  Over the years, I've had folks repeatedly approach to tell me that it's an apt handle, as I tend to walk and talk slow until the timer goes off or the equivalent and what comes after is a complete shocker.

So.  I already had a mess of people that don't even know my regular name, figured it shouldn't hurt to keep using the same handle elsewhere on teh Interwebs.  Only problem is that I'm hopeless on names/faces and I used to be able to start a process of elimination to at least figure out where folks knew me from by what they called me, but that's been ruined now.

stormrider

old cb handle. rode thru a tornado in 1980 with a friend in my 76 Toyota. Completely stopped the car. We didn't know what had happened other than we couldn't see 5 feet in front of us. In a few minutes we heard the reports coming in on the radio of a tornado that had touched down just to the west of our path and would have been at our location when we stalled. even tonight I rode to my son's apartment about 25 miles away, got there and lightening was everywhere. We got back home with only minutes to spare. Happens all the time. On my birthday ride this past May, we left out with reports of possible severe weather for the day. rode 270 miles and only got about 1 mins worth of light showers. Yet there were reports of inches of rain that night everywhere we went. This past Tuesday evening went to PC, FL. On the way home, lots of showers around but didn't get rained on. Wouldn't have minded it though. Been over 100 degrees numerous days this week. And seems to always be a storm brewing around here of different sorts. Gotta ride out the storm baby.
Freedom will ultimately cost more than we care to pay but will be worth every drop of blood to those who follow and cherrish it.

Duckwheat

Use to call the wife Buckwheat when we were in those early days of marriage and pet names and all. Then I needed a username that I would not forget.

Thus Duckwheat was born. I am known to shoot a few ducks as well.

DW

BudMan

It started from other crewmembers in the Air Force.  Came about because of my name in part (Buddy) and my favorite "adult beverage".  In the early 70's Budweiser used "The BudMan" as their mascot.  I guess I'm just lucky to have been in pilot training before Spuds McKenzie became the spokes dog!  :o

Tundra

Well. next to my wife, I enjoy my Valkyrie and truck very much. All the Valk combo's seemed to have been takin. My truck is an almost 10 year old Tundra, which I am as passionate about as my motorcycle.

I called a coworker sweet lips one day.  :-* They called me fudgepacker. It was shortened to fudgie shortly after. That was in 1998 and still called that at work.

Saphire

Got my handle from my late hubby back when he was drive OTR.

Saphires are my favorite gem stone, and he always said I have Saphire Blue eyes..... so he started calling me Saphire on the CB and it's stuck all these years.  He's been gone nearly 9 years and most of his trucking buddies still call me that.  =)

(Besides, this handle is a lot more "family-friendly" than some others he called me  >:)  ) LOL
**Riding one IN a million, not one OF a million**

Fathertime

Well, it appears I'm one of the older managers in position at work, and one of the "young punks" was joking around one day telling me that I was as old as time (compared to him) and things progressed from there and FatherTime just kinda stuck.
Wish now that it was a better, or at least more funny, story.

Bob E.

My name is Bob Elliott, so I use Bob E.  I know...pretty original, huh? :D

Bubby

I got the name "Bubby" from my youngest grand daughter and it stuck ever since.

ChromeDome

This was my ex-brother-in-law's CB handle and I always liked it since we both shared the same physical trait .... being BALD. Figured it was a natural and a lot easier then some of the other names I have been called. :coolsmiley:

Rebyl

Mine is from my Wifes name...Beryl...Rebyl....an anogram I tink it tiz called :D

Ms Old Skool

My late husband Steve had a 1979 CBX and when he join the VRCC his name was Old Skool so I just became Ms Old Skool. When the last InZane was in Frisco CO Steve rode the CBX to Colorado all the way from West Virginia and he said everytime he stopped for gas the bike would have a crowd around it. People couldn't believe how fantastic shape it was in. He said it was like bring a rock star. Not to long after that a collector from Florida bought the CBX sight unseen.

Well Flamingobabe came from being in college and taking an Internet course back about 1995 or 96. Easy A! Anyway we had to have a username and I have collected Flamingos for a very long time so my username became Flamingobabe, Hotglue will have to tell you where his came from.

woody

Mine was because of ny nose, people thought it was large and pointy, hence Woody woodpecker.
Not what you thought eh?
The term woody was unknown in Australia up until the late 90s, I got my handle in the late 60s.
Im also known as Hoover to my football team, as in "my kicking sucks like a hoover vacuume cleaner"

Actually, it was because I was a welder for years, and folks would call for me and say" Hey can you hotglue this together???"..

Highlander

The handle "Highlander" was given me after a motorcycle accident.  I was riding a Honda Blackbird through the twisties in Southern Illinois, and then hit a straight away.  I passed out from low blood sugar and 5 miles later hit a truck.  The next morning I awoke in a hospital room with a knee that had been in 8 pieces, and a right hand in a fixater after being put back on.  I had no pulse when they arrived, but the EMT on the ambulance gave me an IV and started CPR.  She stayed and sent the ambulance back, spending the night in the waiting room praying.  She had been a former student of mine and as a result she would not give up.  The head of orthopedic surgery just happened to have been called in for another wreck, so he was there when I arrived.  The next day, my friend Patty came in to see me and started the conversation with: "Ya canna die Highlander."   Thus, the handle.  I was teaching MSF classes then, so it was a bit embarrassing to go to the banquet in a cast and fixater.  If you need to know how bad the hand was, Patty sent the x-rays to Lamont who asked how bad it was.  His comment was he never wants to see that kind of stuff again. ;D

CanadianViking

I've had my handle, CanadianViking, pretty much since the old BBS days when the internet first started to get popular. My parents immigrated to Canada from Denmark shortly after WWII.  So while I am a born, raised and proud Canadian, my Danish roots have never been forgotten.  Both my parents are gone now (Dad in 1977, Mom in 2001) but my sisters and I still carry on some of our Danish traditions.  CanadianViking reflects my heritage and I've had the handle for so long now that I have friends who don't even know my name, and others who have taken to shortening my handle and just call me CV.

I started shaving my head for St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise money for childrens cancer research.  The first time I went to work after shaving, a co-worker called me skinhead and the rest is history.  I am skinhead to this day at work.

Printer Mike

Interesting read! :cooldude:

I've been in printing since 1970. Started my own printing business in 1978 and have worked many long hour days since to make it work. Even gave up riding for nearly 30 years to focus on my business. I'm semi-retired now.

My name is Mike.

Humshark...Really not that hard to get straight. The title of the post is "Handles, how did you get yours"
My Handle is Tundra and has been for 10 years. My truck which I enjoy is how I came up with that Handle.
My Valkyrie is not named Tundra, never stated that, you assumed that.
Neither did I state my truck was named Sedona, you assumed that too. Sedona Arizona is our favorite place on the planet and we have been vacationing riding there for about 10 years, if you must know. Just a license plate.
Any other questions about me, send a pm, just ask. Don't slam me on a public board. >:(
Did anyone else wonder about Tundra's post?

lacon

Lacon is my middle name & I have never run across anybody else having been named such.  So I use it at times just because of it's uniqueness.
When I was born, my parents did not have much, but they did have an Alabama road map.  They picked my name from seeing it on that map.  At the time, the north Alabama town of Lacon was noted for having a brick making plant, but it has since closed, & now the only thing left there is a flea market.
