I don't know how you found it, but this is a great idea that will sell like hotcakes.  84 mpg, seats 2 people comfortably,  8 gallon tank,  super low cost of 6.8K, and yet still have 3/36K bumper to bumper warranty.  For 7K with tax,  I'll be highly considering buying one, worth a chance for sure.
NO hybrid costing 30K on up is SOOO NOT worth it vs. this 2-seater.  Think about it,  how many times commuting to work do you see more than 1 person in their cars?

I sure hope the safety is there claiming 5 star ratings since insurance companies might think it to be high risk and thus higher insurance costs?  Hey, it employs 1500 people in Louisiana and American made, GREAT IDEA!

I can get on my Valkyrie but I don't think I could get in one of those three wheelers.

Would be an excellent commuter car and a great lake vehicle.  Hell it wouldn't cost much more than a jacked up golf cart and the elio has a/c and goes up to 107mph (according to the video).  With 84mpg fuel economy I would have to fill up twice a month driving to work and running errands.

I agree with some points in the article ref; above. Years ago someone in Tx was going to build a Motorcycle called the Lite Star the only ones that were produced was prototypes. Not to name anyone or admit jumping on the band waggon or sending any money, still waiting on motorcycle to arrive at my door(money gone co bankrupt) I am in the wait and see mode on the Elio. If it goes into production and is what they say, they will not beable to produce enough for the market. Needless to say I think the $6800.00 price tag is a pipe dream, auto manfacture or gas co will buy the company just to keep it off the market, if not then the production models will be a lot more than $6800. But it is a great idea.        We Will See!!!!!!

agree, seems to good to be true.  6800 for a 2 seater of any kind let alone one that has A/C and cruise and heat and all the other basics we prefer nowadays on top of a 3 cylinder engine achieving a whopping 84 mpg is not very believable.  Heck,  I own a 250cc scooter 1 cylinder weighing only 350lbs. and I only achieve 62 mpg how can the Elio being a 3 cylinder weighing a lot more get over say 55 mpg?    Even if it only gets 50 mpg in real world driving, it would still be a winner in my book if they can keep the cost to around the 7K mark.  Nothing else new in this world with 3/36K warranty compares to it for sure being a road vehicle.  Even a nice Honda 150cc scooter new fetches like near 4 grand new find it hard to believe for another 3 grand you can get the Elio seating 2 with ease and yet still achieving more mpg than a 150cc scooter and even most 50cc scooters.

1 Liter Engine at 80 horses... yeah, they can get 80 mpg out of that (with a little aerodynamic design). 

My old BMW R1200C got 55 mpg at about 70 horses... and that thing was a flying brick.  NO aerodynamics involved!

I do think the price tag will be closer to $10K MINIMUM. 

And I'm sure one of the big 3 will take them to court (or buy them out) just to crash the company and keep them from taking sales away from the highly expensive "economy" cars that are already available.

I've been searching for the page I saw it on but I can't find it. I think I may have screwed up and the price of $3100 reflected the add on upgraded body kit.
I had the page bookmarked but must have lost it.
I ran across some that were made in Canada and they were $50,000 and up.

They can't/don't state the engine/drivetrain manufacturer. With first sales projected for summer, you'd think that little detail would be finalized?
this may be testing the market and building enthusiasm
I would buy one, but need to be convinced it's for real.
