Audi's "Smart" Headlights banned in the USA

Who knows, someday this technology might makes its way to motorcycles. Unfortunately, as of now, the NHTSA has an archaic law that keeps it from happening in America.

Pretty neat system.  Not sure about the study on led brake lights.  My led brake lights are so bright I put them in all bikes.

There is one LED manufacture for autos (brake) that do not show up to you unless you are directly behind them.      Memory fart loss of the make.    I won't even say if it is made on this side of the pond or across it.   Like I said, I don't remember the brand, but I have been in behind it a couple of times and damn near rear ended them before I realized they had their brake lights on.

The one I had in MGM before the conversion, would get you attention.

I hope they have a manual override to keep it on low beams so as not to blind other drivers who don't have headlights pointing straight at you, such as traffic approaching the road from the side.  Also to prevent blinding pedestrians, or waking up your neighbors as your lights are pointed at their bedroom curtains, or burning up your vampire friends.

That's exactly right, but eventually the price would come down. I paid 970 for my first VCR--with a corded remote...OUCH!

But I'm not one who has to be on the "cutting edge" of technology anymore.

If you can afford the $80,000 for the A8, the $3k for the headlights isnt a problem. And the testing they did for LED tail lights is mere coincidence. LED lights are brighter and last longer. Alot easier to see that regular lights.
