I gave my secretary notice.

Too many mistakes,  too many messages not written down

My daughter, Stacy, at the same time has given her notice to her job that she is out of there

So starting April 8th she will be the face and voice of my office and I am very proud of her

She has great computer skills and is good with children (clients).

I am really looking forward to having her here and she is looking forward to it as well

So thank you all for your contributions (you know who you are) to the audition process.

This doesnt mean my scouts around the world wont be looking at future talent, just that they aint gonna be hired here.

Stacy here on board Norwegian Sun a few years ago  Yes I know she gets her good looks from mom

Perhaps you could start a Secretary Recruiting & Referral service. There's always need for a good secretary  Roll Eyes

Also, congrats on the new hire! If she steps out of line you can just ground her  Grin

Congrats, Oss.

It sounds like a new generation has entered the tradition of the family business.  There must be something particularly rewarding abut working together with one's child (or children).   cooldude

Incidentally, she looks a little like her dad and she is decidedly a pretty girl.   Wink

Remember, ya can NO step out of line or daughter will tell momma.

Den ur butt will be in trouble.

Don't bother asking how I know, all I'll say was it was my daughter-in-law that blew off her mouth.     Yupper, she is HISTORY now.

I don't know about working with your own children though since if they F up, it would be hard to fire them being kin and all.  Is it permanent or just filling in as a temp?

Either way,  secretary pool auditions MUST continue IMO!  cooldude

Way to go Oss.
My Son and I have been business partners for the last five years.
We will have to sit down for a cold drink over the KY ride and I will give you some experiance points on working with your children.  You will need to find a way to bypass the new assistant for future secretary employment intrerviews fer sure.

I went to work for my dad around 1979 while in law school.  They did not really  teach
ANYTHING useful in my daily practice in law school.

While not in good health Dad is still with us but on o2 like RJ and uses a walker or wheelchair
(saw him and mom yesterday for seder) and we were partners for over ten years
before he came in one day and announced he was not going work anymore
I would guess  this pic is around 10 years old from the lack of grey in my hair lol

Look forward to meeting you at KY and talking about family and work

What you need to do is to establish a pool of potential future secretaries for that inevitable day when your daughter decides that she wants to go to law school as well.

Here are some contributions:

Just in case you need some that are tough..................

And my personal favorite.........

BTW Oss,

Glad that you are going to make it to KY, I'm looking forward to seeing you again.

Dad passed a few weeks after my last post in this thread as I was about to leave for GOTF that year.
Stacy has now been with me 6 years. She had an ordeal by fire as while sitting Shiva she ran the office without me and with only 4 days of training!
She is now a member of the Assn of Law Office Administrators
so when I retire she can get a job running a law firm
*you dont have to be a lawyer, for instance if you have watched SUITS she is my Donna

Oss

Also we lost RJ not long after that
I miss RJ and I miss my dad, more now than before
why is that?

I miss my Dad and RJ too. Part of the loss I still feel is that of wise council. My father was always that person to me and now I am on my own. Some days I really dont like that.

I never had the opportunity to meet RJ but the stories sure tell the tale of a great guy.  I lost my Dad through an accident when I was 14.  One of my biggest regrets in life is that I never had the chance to have a real adult conversation with him.  Looking forward to the day I can do that.

Perhaps the feeling is cumulative, where the times we flash back keep adding up, or maybe we just relate better as we ourselves age?

6 years, you and her are doing well. It often doesn't work with friends or family working for you. I didn't realize Taffy had a drinking problem until I hired her as office manager.

 By 11am, she was useless.

Re. missing your dad, I'm with you guys on that....and RJ as well. I'm sure I'm not the only person that had long phone conversations with him that covered just about anything and everything one could think of. As for my dad, he passed away Dec. 27, 1999 at age 93. Had it been five days later we would have had to make changes to his headstone. When mom died, he had the stone engraved with her name and the year of her birth to year of passing....i.e., example 1912-1990. It was a long head stone with her name on one end and his on the other and he had the dates engraved as 1906-19xx, he left those last two digits blank so all we needed to do was have 99 engraved. But, as he grew older my sister and I began to wonder if it will need to be changed to 20xx. As it turned out, he passed on 12/27/1999. I'll bet he still chuckles about that while dusting his gold chariot. When we'd tease him about it while still alive, all he'd say is "kids, it's not my problem."  Grin

My grandmother did have a Y2K problem, she passed away in 2015 at 100 years old, but her tombstone had been made with the 1915 - 19   inscription when we lost grandpa in the 1980's...

Evidently the tombstone folks are pro though, they took care of it and you can't tell it ever had the wrong date.

So far with 50 staring me in the face I'm blessed to still have both my parents around and active (And involved with their grandkids on a daily basis, someday I hope my kids will realize just how lucky they are to have that.)

It was touching, when my dad's mom finally went into a "home", my dad would still go see her every single day. It was refreshing to see a guy in his 70's drop everything to go see his mommy every day.

Sadly, he was one of the only ones that regularly went and visited, not just his mom, but anyone there.

It was at my grandma's funeral, watching my dad stagger across the graveyard to bury his mom, that it first really hit me that time had caught up and he was an old man that I would lose someday soon.

Anyway, sorry to ramble, just hit a nerve, mostly a good one, but just the same.
