If you use the wooden ones, be sure they don't have any splinters on them cause it  might hurt when she pulls them out.

Seriously, had the wooden kind of seat beads on my Shadow,  They actually work, and circulate air between the seat and your rear.  Great on those sticky summer rides.

These are the pads we use.  Very thin, and allow air under yer butt.  Long rides last year in 100 plus temps... no monkey butt!!!!  They are pricey, but I would do it again!
The medium fits the Valk rider seat great.

those HD butt pads do not say HD on them do they like all other things HD?

If not,  that is probably why they are not overinflated on price. 

Price seems reasonable if it works for the tush,  very good for the price.

It does have a small HD emblem on it...  but it really works great! about 1/4 inch thick.
  FB and I rode on wooden beads for years, but after a long day in the saddle, my butt was wore out and dippled...FB thought that was cute...   The beads will also dipple your seat cover, I whip stitched a piece of leather on the back ot the beads to save the bike seat leather.
  I put the HD pad on my Valk, and tried it on FB's Spyder... and it fit... after she rode it for a day she said" looks like you need to go get YOU one"

BTW, my Airhawk 2 works very well and I never have to enter into a conversation about "butt beads" where the topic could be misunderstood.

I did get a set of those wooden beads/taxi driver type seat cover a few years ago. I like it in the summer - air flow is good. Only complaint is after a long day, say 300+ miles it starts to get uncomfortable. But then, my butt hurts without them too on that long of a ride.

Some of you older guys may remember a fellow that followed the rally circuit years ago and went by the name of "Pappa Jack". He was from Haleyville, AL and would remove your seat cover and recontour the seat foam to improve the comfort. While he was working on my 1200 Goldwing, he told me the best (and cheapest) thing he had found to improve air circulation was to get an astroturf welcome mat and cut it to fit the seat. A while after that, I was in Donaldsonville, LA on a miserably hot day and while passing a Wal-Mart remembered what he said. I went in and got a mat and cut it in half and gave the other half to a friend and went on down the road. The relief was immediate. I still have that mat but haven't used it in many years. I now use a sheepskin but I believe the mat was just as good (and you don't have to worry about it getting wet). Try it, I think you will be pleased. You might think the "coarse grass" would scratch but it does not.

I also use an AirHawk and Anti-Monkey Butt for long days on the road, but I might try the Astroturf.
It might color match my '98 jade/black tourer.  Thanks, Cracker Jack.

I'm a fan of the Bead Rider seats.  They last me about 3  years before they need replacing -- the beads are fine but the stringing gives out.

I tried the ceramic, and they don't stay "not hot" in the sun like the wooden beads do.  First time I tried the wooden Bead Rider, it was July.  In short shorts I rode the bike to shop for a birthday present for my sister.  A couple of hours later I came back to the bike to see a black bike baking in the hot Texas sun.  As I got on, I braced for the burn.  But .... it wasn't hot.  Least the beads weren't.....

When the ceramic came out, I tried them.  They didn't do the same thing.

I love my bead seats.   Air flowing under my derriere in the summer, sitting above the water in the seat when it rains.  I put them up when it gets cooler though, that cold breeze under there is distracting!
