I was thinking of calling on this bike but after looking at it was wondering if this color was available in 97 and also noticed the tank badge is from the later models. Am I correct?

There is a black and orange model in 99, very rare.  Don't know why it has the late model tank badge, though. The driver seat is a 2000 up model also. Hoser

Just a typo......thats not a '97.  Its probably a 99 as that color was not offered in '97

The bike looks red and black, not orange and black.  I've noticed it on craigslist too, and they probably have the year wrong.  Looks like it's being offered by a dealer, so not likely to have any history on the bike.  If you're heading up this way give me a shout, I live 15 minutes from Sac.
Light moves faster than sound.  That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

If you look at the pic of the tank badge you will see that the color is orange and black, not red...

No, actually I just called and visited with the consignment dealer. it is red and black with a 97 plate on the neck..... something doesn't add up.

Some people have been known to swap tins.  If it could be verified...'97 bones with black and red tins..........yeah baby!

To get the color you want and have the stock paint :cooldude:

BF

I don't have original tins on my '97.  I didn't have the heart to paint over the original red & white paint.  They only made just so many of the them that color....first year color and all.
I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

My 97 was a bumblebee. Right now it's purple but every piece of the bumblebee tin is carefully wrapped up and stored. My relative who had the bike prior to me painted replacement tins instead of ruining the OE's. Someday I'll tire of the purple and go back to stock.

1997 Standard. Original bumblebee tin stored.

I have seen a number of photos where you cannot tell red/black from orange/black.  It is the light and photography.

98 was an orange and black year too, I had one. Good price, prolly pick it up for a few less. Wish it wasn't so far away I'd take a look myself.
