I've been procrastinating, watching the weather predictions etc.  But it looks like Saturday might be tolerable with partly cloudy skies no rain predicited.  So I think we should put on a few more miles and eat some BBQ at Bills BBQ in Chiefland.  It's on 19 if you are going North it will be on your right. 1901 N. Young Blvd. Chiefland Fl.

Hiya Thunder -

What time were you thinking of meeting? Sounds like a good way to meet the rest of ya'll.

Good question.  We usually try to get there around 11:30 and do some tire kickin in the parking lot while the rest show up.  You know, compare shiny parts etc.  They have a pretty big parking lot, some parking under a big oak tree out front, then some on the North side.  Be good to meet you, glad you're considering showing up.  :cooldude:

Ponderin' on makin' this 'un my own self... May even have a riding bud with me. We'll most likely get to Chiefland Friday afternoon and get a room... maybe even party some that evenin' too. See ya'll Satidy fer some fine swine and good ol' fashion tar kickin'... If anybody wants to get a head start of the festivities, sound off and we'll go ahead and pick a motel and see ya there Friday.

Sure will be good to shake your old paw Bruce.  For those that don't recognize DDT lets just say that he is one of the founding fathers of the Florida VRCC.  He has since moved to Alabama, but we won't hold that against him as that was where he was born and raised.   If you just bought a Valkyrie with less than say 400,000 or so miles on the odometer, you won't even come close to the miles that Bruce has on his old 99 Tourer Ali. Someone gave him the name DDT cause he was always out killin bugs with his bike. :cooldude:

Thunderbolt,

Yeah, it'll be good to see you and Iris again, too... Funny, I was thinking about y'all just yesterday... See, I rode up to Decatur, AL, to revisit a hamburger joint where I've been dining for a good while... had my first one there in 1962. Anyway, I'd relied upon the weather forecast, which had called for warming temps well up into the 'Splendid' range...

Well, it never got above the mid 50s all day, and it struggled until after mid day to even break the 50 threshold. I was shivering most of the way there and back the way I'd been up on Cheaha that year you and Iris loaned me a sweatshirt to get me back home!!! I don't mind cold weather riding, provided I have the proper gear... which I didn't... yesterday or way back then!

I'm really looking forward to Saturday... hope Iris can make it too, along with the rest of your bunch. From the write-ups I been reading, you have an impressive group down there and some very nice outings... See ya soon.

Really? I always thought DDT stood for Dead Duck Turds! At least that's what my kids told me.  :2funny:

Sorry Bruce, love to pass some time with you again but it doesn't look like it will happen this time around.  In fact, I think that BBQ place was the last time our paths crossed. If things change, I'll be there but not counting on it happening.

DDT (12)

Stuffy,

Sorry to hear that, John... Yeah, that was indeed the last time I saw you! Man, you do have a good memory... As for the Duck Turds... I have ducked a few, but I don't admit to being one... Of course, those of you who know me may have opinions that differ... Say hi to Rita for me and us... See ya another time.

Would love to meet you all there, but Todd and I will be out of town this weekend. Unless you have another ride the following week, the next bike shindig we'll probably be able to attend is the Leesburg Bikefest. Anyone going to that? Or should I post a new topic? Our friend and fellow Valk rider from Ft. Meyers will be joining us and we'd like to meet up with some of our fellow members on Saturday to bling up the parking lot properly. (gotta show a united front with all those Harleys there ... sorry, Murph ... couldn't resist a small joke)

Well..........if my parts do not come in for the project I am working on this sounds like a good way to get out of working around the house.
For those who are leaving from the Orlando area let me know if you are going. We can meet up and go up through the forest to 326 then up on 27.

Looks like I will miss this one. Too many projects in the fire that I need to finish.

Love to make it but I'm in Rio until 16 April. But I'll be through Chiefland on the way to Ft. Lauderdale on 20 April. Maybe I can stop at the BBQ and still see ya'lls tire tracks!
