Depends on how it's used. If it's a daily driver, it'll last several years. (Mine went 7 as I recall) But if the bike sits all winter with no smart charger in a freezing garage, maybe 1 year. Of course I can't remember a freezing garage. Just hit 134K today. Damn weather in AZ makes me ride all year. I hate it when that happens. LOL

I replaced my battery on my '98 in 2011. Original battery with build date in '97.

mine made 10, just crapped out on me a few months after I bought a replacement

had never gone long as a month without riding and wonder if that is why it finally bit the dust

The OEM battery in my 97 lasted 11 years. It never went bad, just started making me nervous so I replaced it with another just like it. The original owner bought a battery maintainer from the dealer when he bought the bike in 97. He used it every winter and I still use it every winter. Amazing that like the bike, the maintainer is 16 years old and both are still going strong.
