Getting ready to install XF6 rake kit and would like to know if the torque settings are the same as stock triple tree fasteners?
I want to make sure I have the right settings for the pinch bolts and steering head bolt.
Any special procedure to set the head bearings?
Thanks
Mike

I know he sent me different instructions, and said NOT to follow oem settings.

Can someone post or email me instructions - I emailed Daryl and haven't heard back. I don't want to call him on Sunday and would like to finish up installation.

Thanks

Take up the free play until there is absolutely none left.

There will be no slop in the assembly.

Then a preload to the bearings is needed.

This can be attained by using a torque wrench or,

Simply a given amount of turn with the nut.

Lacking the torque setting I would say a quarter turn of the nut would be adequate preload.

I wouldn't load it any more than that.

Naturally this is dependent on the condition that everything is completely seated properly.

If this is not the case, you'll simply have to go back in it and tighten it up again.

There will be no damage caused from running the system loose, so there's no need to worry.

I use a spring scale. 1.5#- 2.25# to just start the forks to turn is about right.

Talk to Daryl, It is critical to get the head bearing correct. I thought I did it by the book but my front end was constantly seeking, a very uncomfortable and unsafe feeling. I drove it up to the VRCC get together at Shanty Creek Michigan and Daryl set it for me. He used no instruments, purely by feel. Turned out I had it to tight. It was like a new bike after that, way better handling than my stock Interstate, especially at low speeds.

Talked to Daryl and he gave me some great tips on how to properly install the kit.

Thanks everyone for their help.
