Anyone have heated clothing? What do you recommend. Looking to start of with jacket or vest. Some have little battery packs which is cool but thinking battery might not last too long. Other just hook up to 12volt.Thanks

I've had Gerbing for many years its some of the best money I've EVER spent... Start with the jacket liner , gloves and controller.

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

You can't go wrong with http://www.warmnsafe.com/. They're good people and be sure to read what they say about their competition that stole their designs. http://www.warmnsafe.com/we-invent-they-copy-why/

Gerbings  :cooldude:
Skip the vest if you're ever going to want the matching gloves to go with. The vest will have you fighting the wires down the sleeves each time for the gloves.  :-\
Jacket Liner  :cooldude:
Get the Dual Controller, because the gloves can get warm but you may want the liner to keep going, or vice versa.  :cooldude:

I haven't used any other brands so I can't offer any competitive feedback.

Bought my wife the Gerbings jacket liner, gloves and dual controller.  Best investment I ever did.  Now I don't have to listen to her complain that she is cold.  Now it is me complaining.  I think I may invest in it as well.

If global warming is happening...why is it so cold up here?

I've always used Aerostich products.
About the best you can buy.

Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous.
It is however, extremely unforgiving of: inattention, ignorance, incompetence or stupidity.

I'd go with the Aerostich if I could afford it. That said, I have a warm n safe liner (I believe it's the gen. 3) and am very happy with it.
When in doubt, ride.

warmnSafe all the way.  Gerbing is the outfit that stole from them.  They used to get their controller from WNS until they reverse-engineered it and outsourced it to China.  A-holes.

Hey Rosie, keep and eye out on other motorcycle forums classifieds for a used set. I got a gerbings jacket liner, pants, gloves, insoles and duel controller off some guy on the GL1800 sight for 1/4 of the price and they were like new.

I've used a Gerbing jacket liner and gloves for years, great product.  I have the single controller and have found it works fine for me.

I also bought the pants, but after the first use, found them to be over kill.  Long johns, jeans and leather chaps are enough and the chaps are easy to remove if you stop for any amount of time.

I do. Can't recall the name brand right now. I'll look for it in a bit and pass it on. I bought it second

hand from an inmate over on ADV rider. I thought it might work on my bike and it does a fine job

on my MT. BIKE! The problem is,  running off a battery pack it doesn't put out enough power for

a long enough time to keep your core warm when you are moving through cold air at the speed of

a motorcycle.  A battery powered vest works great when your say, fishing in the cold or watching

a football or softball game. Or,  like I said riding your bicycle in the cold. The battery packs take

awhile to charge also. And to top it off, they are expensive to buy new. Pick any of the electric

vests or jacket liners and stay warm for the entire ride.  I have an older Aerostich vest.  Stiil works.

Hey Rosie
I have Gerbings jacket and another brand glove (?) and I love them  Here in Upstate NY it definitely extends my riding season.  Also generally speaking the heated jacket liner and my leather jacket allows me to be always warm without having to wear layers and layers of cloths.

the key thought is to have it fitted to you... do NOT buy one too loose.  they are designed to transfer heat directly to your body and NOT heat the air between your body and the jacket.  all you should wear under the jacket liner is a long sleeve fairly thin shirt... like a cotton or under armor style.

By the way I have a Gerbings mens med that my girlfriend wore but will not be riding so I am willing to sell it if you are interested.  the newest jackets have a carbon wire which is much thinner than the original jackets.  The one I have is older style but works well.  It is the 12V version as I have a dual control on my bike.  If you are interested...or even if you have any questions I can help with feel free to ask... good luck with your search and ride safely
