Sorry, I"ll be the only dissenting opinion here, but this "guy" lost all credibility when he passed at 3:27 in the video. He mentioned in the video that riding a motorcycle doesn't mean doing stupid stuff, but that's exactly what he did.

I'm saying this from a first person argument in that I have flown through my windshield at 45mph and should have been killed in a wreck. I DID have to convince my family to let me get a second bike--and a second chance.

Yeah, I noticed the illegal pass over the double yellow line too.  I think he had a lot of good to say, but this is wrong.

Yeah, and I did notice it was a stretch where he had a decent view, etc. My main point is that motorcyclists don't have the best image amongst the public and if we need them to "Start Seeing Us", "we" probably shouldn't be breaking the laws during a video to promote riding. :)

Nobody but me! It clears the crap and cobwebs out after a FS day. Not to mention I just like it.
You are never lost if you don't care where you are!

 Why do you ride?

'Cause it's too far to walk?

And because it's fun.

He also rides down some stairs on a public sidewalk... and he rides on the edge of the Grand Canyon, which I don't think is allowed either...

I ride because it beats going to  therapy... Or spending the afternoon on a psychiatrist's couch.
Be safe out there....

Ya, you never see a motorcycle in the parking area of a psychiatrist's office... unless it belongs to the psychiatrist. ;D

Ride fast and take chances... uh, I mean... ride safe folks.

To me is...being truly alive has to do with actually doing those things you are driven to do until you reach a point where there is a reaon NOT to.  So if you feel the gravitational pull to ride motorcycles as I do.  the question isint why do I ride, the question is, rather...why not ride?  The answer to that (second) question determines if I ride.  There is no reason not to.  Safety, no, poeple die in cars everyday, family concerns, they worry?  They gonna worry no matter what.

At the end of life (everyone has one) you can either look back and say I lived or you can say dang what was I thinking.

I used to skydive as a hobby.  A still small voice told me I needed to stop.  I fought it, but eventually agreed.........many reasons not going into them, the point is there came a day when there was a reason NOT to.

WHY NOT RIDE

R J

The reason I ride,

To get from Point 'A' to 'B' without having to walk.

I spent alot of money for this Valkyrie. I'm really cheap and would hate to see it go to waste.

If you're a motorcyclist and have to ask others why they ride, maybe you're missing something. :)

Why do you ride?

Because riding represents freedom to me.

Because my dad had rode.

Because my brother rode.

Because there was a really cool and old (and very small) one-man Harley shop down the street from my house and I fell in love with all of the bikes and everything in that shop.

Because that old shop smelled like cherry blend pipe tobacco, motor oil, grease and rubber tires....because it smelled like heaven to me.

Because I grew up riding.......up untill I got married and had kids.

Because the last bike I had went away.

Because life got in the way....for a very long time.

Because........I got kidney cancer.

Because I figured life is short.

Because I found my Valk and have been riding and re-modeling it ever since.

Because all of the cools kids do.   :coolsmiley:

alph

i can not recall where i heard this but it goes something like this;

nearing the end of ones life, most people regret the things they didn't do, more than the things they did do.

that's why i ride, because growing up i was ALWAYS told that it was too dangerous, i'd get killed, things like that.  but everytime i ride my cycle, i DO have more of a feeling of "enjoying" life a little more.

on the flip side, living here in wisconsin makes me hate the winters that much more.

that being said, there are a few things i would like to ride, but riding them is far more dangerous!! (hint, hint)

When I was on that fund raiser cancer ride yesterday the ride induced grin was there-and stayed there.  :2funny: I know-pay 10 bucks to go on an organized ride. Buy some raffle tickets. Purchase hamburgers and soft drinks that are donated. The fact that there was well over 100 like minded folks having as much fun as I was-no way in hell you put a price on that.  :cooldude: Trust me-I ain't bragging-but had there been another fund raiser ride today-I would be there.  ;) My neighbor that turned me on to this ride has very low stamina-he went down signed up for the ride told them to keep the twenty dollar bill visited for a bit and went back home. Like 50 miles total which is ALL he could manage. THAT to me anyway is a RIDER. When I saw my neighbor when I got back last night he was still hurting. But the fact he threw a leg over KNOWING what it would do to him-i'd share wind with him anytime. RIDE SAFE.
