Doctors say it was a complete tear and he'll be out of action for 6-9 months.

That means he'll probably be back in action about the same time as Derek Rose.

(Ya might have to be from the Chicago area or a Bull's fan to appreciate the humor in that.)

Had the same happen on the left ankle, doing the same thing....playing basketball. Sucker popped loud like snapping piece of fishing line, then I hit the deck and rolled. Instant nausea & pain like I've never had. Had it repaired surgically as well, then later had a brace mounted on the left shoe of an old pair. Decided to do some post-bac school-housing at UCF, so with the brace they gave me a handicap sticker so I didn't have to walk a half mile to my classes. For the next two years, every time I went to register I put on that old pair of shoes with the brace on the left one. Got a handicap sticker evey year.  :cooldude:

John, I've only seen a couple athletes suffer that injury and it looks horribly painful. I don't blame you on the handicap sticker. :) There's no long term effects, are there?

Ohhhhh Poor Kobe!!!   Maybe he can recuperate at Corderilla Resort in beautiful Eagle County so's we can get another crack at him and throw his butt in the slammer (where he should have wound up first time). :tickedoff:
Sorry boys, no tears here.

don't especially like him personally, but one of the top basketball players ever.

Never really had a good idea about the events in CO.  obviously a married guy screwing around.  was it more than that? consenting or not?  I think i leaned towards consenting with change of heart later.  this older mind doesn't recall all the details now and don't really want to go back and rehash it.

i'm actually sorry to see any top athlete suffer a severe injury!

I was hoping for the BEST NBA season ever this year.....then they decided to play anyway.

Several yrs ago, some coworkers asked if I had seen the game last night. I said no because B'ball was too slow. They were stunned so I mentioned that players ran 10-12 mph. Indy cars go 200. That about says where my interests run.

So with our men and women in combat this week, some being wounded, some dieing for our country, how important is this post?

like comparing apples and oranges.  that being said, how important are any of your 2000 posts or any of mine?  most not really important, just exchanging views.

i like basketball so post was OK for me.   :)

As the original poster, I'll answer this question, tank. Men and women of combat come FIRST in my book. They're the heroes.

I'd say most of the respondants missed my intent with the post...and that's ok, I'll take the blame for that.
I could have used Kobe, I could have used Zack Greinke, the Dodger pitcher who just got hurt and will be out quite a while.
I was merely questioning Derek Rose not getting into a game yet. His team mates need him yet he's still mentally not ready to play, despite having clearance for over a month by the doctor who performed the surgery. I'm from near Chicago. I'm a BULL's fan...not a Laker fan.
With that in mind, you can reread my first post with the disclaimer in parentheses...or you can move on... :)
