Man! People are just unbelievably stupid! :crazy2:

From the article...
Think about this the next time your neighbour peels back the bedroom curtains when you fire up your bike on a Sunday morning

AN ARGUMENT between two neighbours over a loud motorcycle turned deadly in Pasadena, Texas on Wednesday.

One of the men involved, Chris McLain, confronted his neighbour after getting tired of him riding his loud custom motorcycle across his front lawn when he came home from work at around 4.30am each morning.

Things turned nasty when McLain's motorcycle riding neighbour stabbed him. McLain responded by choking his motorcycle-riding neighbour to death.

Police have yet to release the name of the dead motorcycle rider, saying only that he was in his mid thirties. Police were called to the scene and McLain was rushed to Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute by helicopter, where he was listed in critical condition and treated for multiple stab wounds.

Crime scene investigators spent hours photographing the victim, along with the tire tracks that led up to the fight just a few feet from his dead body.

McLain's father said his son had no choice but to defend himself.

Always bring your hands to a knife fight. Seems like the dumb-ass neighbor got what he deserved. To me it was a little unclear, but, it seems like the neighbor was riding over McLain's lawn which I probably wouldn't like either.

Yeah, according to a post in the comments, he had driven through the guy's lawn enough to make ruts. I would have had a major confrontation with him long before.

Despite what the article says, this wasn't over loud exhaust. It was over the biker taking a shortcut across his neighbors yard. The homeowner had told him repeatedly to stop riding across his lawn (he had done this so many times there was actually a trail), and then confronted him when he caught him doing it again. They started arguing, and then the guy on the bike pulled a knife, and stabbed him. The homeowner managed to get the biker into a headlock, and choked him to death. All of this actually took place a few houses down the street from where my aunt lives in Pasadena.

Sounds like the biker got what he deserved.  If he told him not once, not twice, but 3x or more, then game  on.

Sounds like me and my HD neighbor.  Wife wants to build a 6-8' tall fence or a huge row of tall trees on our lot line side 60' long so he cannot drive his pickup truck out to his shed to get his trailer out of his backyard or snowblow the entire side of his yard 100' long into which is grass throwing it hitting our house or piling up the snow in our yard every single spring now like this year causing tons of snow mold and tons of mice holding up in the snow causing me to replant grass seed every single spring.   The idiot has a spare lot to use with direct access to the main street in front of his yard to build that stupid shed but he has to put it right on my lot line and drive within a little on my lot to get back there sometimes to get out his stupid trailer.

Worst part is besides the snow and driving alongside our yard, he starts his P.O.S. HD up to go to work at 2:30 a.m. and let's the loud crapper bike warm up like 15-20 minutes before he takes off despite being fuel injected no need to which if our windows are open which it usually is,  wakes all of us up.  Even if windows are closed, you can hear it rumble and most of the time wakes us up as well at 2:30 a.m.  I'm tempted to file a complaint with town for disturbing 'quiet' hours.

Check local zoning laws with your town, sounds like the shed may have been put up without a permit. There is an easement  of twelve feet between property lines that can't be used for a structure in my town. If no zoning laws you're out of luck.  Hoser

File the complaint and be civil about it.

Then keep on filing each and every occurence.

As suggested check zoning

Oddly that will land you in jail too. Up in Wisconsin a guy got tired of people cutting across his property on Snowmobiles, he put up signs, complained to the law, nothing worked. So he dug a deep ditch, and someone that didn't know crashed and died. The land owner went to prison. They determined that he intentionally created a hazard intending to hurt someone.

Wow! That's tragic all the way around. Many lives ruined over a trespassing issue. The guy should have been smarter than to create a life threatening danger.

I agree, but what do you do?  Signs, don't work.  Talking does not work.  Go to cops, nothing.  They keep using your property, and NOBODY will do ANYTHING!  Should you just deed the property over to the county to use as a park?

Why does it seem like property rights are non-existant any more?

As a member of the Board of Works here in New Haven, we were asked to solve a similar problem by a resident.

His neighbor was also putting ruts into his yard by pulling a trailer and swinging wide.   In this litigious society we couldn't give the property owner the ok to put boulders in his yard.  The ruts were in the right-of-way and would've put the city in a bad position if the trespassing neighbor got hurt.

The city attorney advised us. I don't make the rules.

Conversely, some years ago, one of my sons lost control of his sisters car, an Olds 88, ran off the road, and left ruts in a neighbor's yard.
I took my son over to the neighbor and had my son bring a shovel, rake, and grass seed.  I told my neighbor that he had the use of my son to fix the ruts.  Problem solved.  The neighbor was happy, I was happy, and my son learned a lesson about other people's property.  NO lawyer needed!

Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous.
It is however, extremely unforgiving of: inattention, ignorance, incompetence or stupidity.

Cookiedough, I thought I was pretty patient, but, you must have the patience of a saint. I too would be making phone calls. I'd have the law sitting in my driveway by 2:30. I don't know how much set-back is required in your area, but, yep, I'd be putting up a fence too. A tall long one. It just goes to show, no matter where you are, there are a lot of inconsiderate assholes in this world.

cookiedough

I'm pretty sure he is within lot line limits between my lot line and his 1 car garage outback guessing is 10' or so away which the way he built it is stupid with the door facing my lot line so he has to swing whatever in and out pretty tight curve.  But not so sure about the lot line behind his shed into the farmer's field lot line guessing is only 6-7' at most.  Might check into that again with the village.  Would be funny as heck if the building was not built within village specs and had to be moved closer in towards his house.

This dispute all started when he asked me to sign papers to allow a lot line variance to go over by 3-4 feet closer to my lot line and I had no problem with that as long as he stayed in line with his current garage upfront.  He then said he wanted to go 6-7' up more to make his garage deeper on top of 3-4' closer to my lot line.  That is where I said NO since his garage would be too far upfront and cover 1/3 of my house from the road coming up the street and also blocking a portion of the road from my house.  It all would've been fine just make the current garage go back further is all but he wanted to move it upfront.  He then got all pissy with me and told me like the A-hole he is that I was trying to tell him how to build his garage.  I said, 'yes, I am', since you want me to go sign a lot line variance with village to go over closer to my lot line so I have every right.  If he wants to be a jerk I can as well right back at him.  Haven't spoken to him much since and that has been like 5 years now.

There are  other ways to solve this kinda stuff other than choking and stabbing.  I'd have been pissed about my yard being use as a driveway though. But not for very long.

Cookie:  Did he build his garage? Give em an inch and they want a foot type thing!

Yes, one car garage is built in the back a few years ago.  Doubt I could get the cop in this one horse town to give a rats _ss about much of anything and he wouldn't do squat about it anyways.

If he would've had 1/2 a brain,  he would have built a 2-3 car garage separately in his empty lot facing the street on the other side of his house to store 2 of his 3 vehicles and 2 HD's and ATV inside and still have his 1 car garage attached to his house.

Besides the HD's blaring at 2-3 a.m. for more than a few minutes,  what really ticks us off he gets up at 2 a.m. to start his snowblower and runs it at night for like 30 minutes straight doing his tiny driveway and the entire 100'x8' wide grass alongside our house blowing all the snow into our yard hitting our trees and house with the snow blown.  I could be a prick back and fire up my ATV with snowplow and push all the blown snow right back into his own yard where it belongs thus not allowing him to drive his truck on the lot line back to his 1 car garage.

How many people are that inconsiderate to get up at 2 a.m. and use the snowblower for 30 minutes to 1 hour in the middle of the night while 99% of people are sleeping.  Takes a lot of balls to get away with crap like that.  He could easily do it during the day when he gets home between 1 and 3 in the afternoon like a normal person.

Hooter

Sucks thats for sure. Sounds like LE isn't much help but he is disorderly. As far as the snowblowing thing, handful of 2" - 3" bolts in the snow will take care of that. Sounds like this guy tries his hardest just to be a dick!

Hey, the previous post reminds me for next winter, GREAT IDEA.  I have a ton of old crappy bolts and a 1/2 of a 5 gallon bucket of heavy duty old 5" nails just sitting around not going to use probably ever.  Going to have to wait until next year snowfall and throw a few dozen scattered into his yard in the snow.  Can't wait to hear the bitchin' at 2 in the morning - gonna love it - super idea!  Only issue is one of the nails might shoot out and break our window though but then his home insurance will have to pay for it - LOL!  :cooldude:  Serves the butthead right for snowblowing the entire 100'x8' grass between our houses, what a dumb_ss!    Hey, who said 2 wrongs don't make a right?  ;D

If I was going to do the above posted activity, I don't believe I'd post it on the world wide web for just anyone to read as evidence of my intent.  Could come back to haunt someone.
