Some of you might remember when I took out a would be robber in a parking garage with my 02 tank, well I took out two more guys today. BUT, a little differant stage; being on 02 almost 24/7, it is hard to make it to the shower at times. So, today I went to the shower and left my two front door open, strom were open. After my shower I thought a cool beer would be good at this time. So, I put on my TANK, nothing else, and walked down my hall to the frig. As I passed the front door I saw two young men with back packs ready to ring my bell. Talk about DEER in the head lights; this was it !!!!! These guys can move really fast when asked to. I`m sure these nice young men will have a
LOT of fun with this. I sure have ! What the hell can I look forward to now.  :crazy2:

I suspect it wasn't the O2 tank that scared them off.  :o

I did much the same thing to two young gals canvassing for the Jehovahs Witness. I heard the doorbell just as I exited the shower, grabbed a towel and peeked out the side window. Can't mistake them for sure. I wrapped the towel around me, holding it with one hand, and opened the door. Had to laugh really....the older one took one look and started speaking in machine gun english, glancing down ever so often. It was like she was trying to fog her mind with what she had to say so she wouldn't be swayed by what was standing in front of her(I was 33 at the time and in a lot better shape than now). The younger one just stood and stared at my towel...never took her eyes off me, but neither would leave. So when one asked if I would like some literature, I said "sure" and held out my hand....the one holding the towel.  ;D

The older one outran the younger one by quite a bit, would loved to have been a fly on the wall when they got home that night. Strangely enough, I didn't see them on my street again....ever.

What's that old challenge?  Pics or it didn't happen.   ;)

On second thought, I'll pass on the pics.

Actually, a bong works pretty well at getting rid of the JW AND the Avon lady!

They used to show up a lot when I lived in Illinois. I'd invite them in break out the bourbon or scotch or vodka and light a big green cigar and tell them to proceed.  :2funny: Could NOT understand why they wouldn't stick around and talk to me.  My daughter drinking soda out of an emptied beer can MIGHT have had something to do with it.  :cooldude: RIDE SAFE.

When those ladies show up I just keep on watching my TV and just ignore them even though they can hear my TV and me sitting in my easy chair.  I guess I am too lazy to get up and answer the door.  I get at least 2x per year the underpriviledge college kids selling newspapers to me to raise money for college funds supposedly.  I just send them on my way AFTER they give me a free paper.  ;D

LOL !

And John, you'd get arrested for that today !

John, that's hilarious!  My brother who was a campus pastor in VA, saw the JW proselytizers at his door, so he used his wife's lipstick and wrote "666" on his forehead and answered the door.  He said they nearly ran over each other, running away.

A few years ago they put up an obviously expensive LDS temple (or whatever) 5 miles down the road - I said oh great, now we will be getting the minivans with 4 "witnesses" in K-Mart polyester black suits and thin ties, canvassing the neighborhood, taking turns knocking on doors looking for new cult fine Americans. Sure enough, monthly they were knocking on the door.  Look out the window, see a minivan with 3 cheaply-dressed up 50-ish women or 20-something boys with the 4th at the door and there's no doubt what they are.  At one time I put a sign on the door, "Positively NO PROSELYTIZING" but I took it down - thought it was too hostile to everybody at the door including neighbors - like swatting a fly amidst the butterflies with a shotgun.  Sometimes I think I wish I knew when they were coming - so I could salt the driveway with spikes.  Naaa, too much trouble and I don't want them broke down in my driveway. Instead I answered the door and told them they were unwelcome and not to come back.  That usually keeps them away for awhile.  Might have to try the nekked "welcome".  Or trade tracts with them - have to get some nasty ones, devil worship or the like.

My wife has been a Jehovah Witness for almost 20 years and has pretty much seen it all.  If you don't want to be bothered by them, next time they show up, just ask the person to put you on the 'do not call on' list.  But then you won't have any stories to tell about them.  They are good people and very kind.  Remember, they are people just like you.

If global warming is happening...why is it so cold up here?

I have no doubt that they are good people and very kind.  Absolutely.  I just do not like them coming to my door!  Or salesmen, etc.!

I don't answer the door for a lot of people.  As a result, all the regular neighborhood solicitors (for all kinds of things) routinely pass me by    (love it when a plan comes together).

Telling the JW that the house has converted to Islam works very well.... no further discussion.

When we lived in California, I'd answer the door with my best friend, a Pit Bull and there always seemed to be a yellow streak going down the driveway.

If I had all the gates shut and if I was home, I'd turn the 3 Pit's we had loose in the yard.

Had a Dog Warning sign on the front gate.   Please push the bell to your left for entrance.     In the 20+ years we lived there with the Pit's, I don't recall anyone pushing the bell, except my paper girl.     The Pit's all loved her, she brought them treats.

The dogs did the trick.    Brutus would walk up to the gate, give a light growl, show his teeth and set down.   Penny & Dumb Bell were usually running back and forth at the gate.   On one end Penny would let out a growl and Dumb Bell would run to the other end barking all the way.

No one staid around too long.

Other times I'd park my CHP Motor out front on the side walk, or the Cruiser in the driveway.      That eliminated a lot of the scum begging also.
