Can someone tell me where the connector for a mp3 player is on a IS? I got the right sidecover off and dont see it
I read somewhere i need 6' of wire with male 3.5m connectors?
Thanks

Gavin_Sons

Behind the right side cover. Think it has a cap on the plug. And yes you will need an aux cable to plug into your mp3 player.

Gavin_Sons

you may have to dig for it, coulb be hiding behind all the other wires.

Keep pulling stuff apart, it's in there.

I cannot find a pic, but there are plenty here.

I believe the plug in is an 1/8" single pin............. the 3.5 din pin is for headphones for the IS intercom.

I have something with a cap close to the switch like s double connector.like. both male and female

Im om my phone and do not know how to srnd a pic.

That is an aftermarket SAE power connector for a battery tender or heated clothes.

No, that looks like a 12v power connector, like I use for a battery charger.

Big T...

That looks like a connector for a battery tender...

The above pic is what you are looking for.... looks like a headphone jack.......

And yes 6' male/female cable will give you enough length to get to the handlebars...... Thats what I use, got it from Radio Shack....

I think this is it. or something like it:

You can get them most anywhere.. Best Buy, etc in the headphone areas.. Hell I might have an extra.....

I think it is a male to make stereo cable.  The connector on the IS is a female with a cover.  6' should do it.

HH you are right... I went n looked..... Duh....

It just looked like it may have been because it was close to the switch with the cap on. I would have thought there would be connectors in and around the fairing.

Thanks for all the help!  :cooldude:

Galvin  don't want to dig too hard, someone put a lot of extra stuff in there that I have no clue what they are! lol. I did discover it has a modulating headlight today.  :D

that wire run out of the back of the radio.. mine was'nt in the side cover mine was tucked in front of the battery box..so you could pull the radio off the top of the battery and trace that wire to see where it's at.

Once you find that round plug in (it took me like 30 minutes to find the darn thing being very careful tucked way in there),  you may not want the 6' plug in cable.  I got the 6' plugnplay and wish I would've got the 3' since I only run it from the side cover up the side of the tank into my iron horse tank bib where my mp3 player is kept on the tank and the other 3' of cord is wrapped up.  All depends on placement of item.  If you are going to store the mp3 player/phone up by the handlebars/windshield, then you will need the 6' cord though.

Yes, I'm putting it on the handlebars so I'll need the 6'. Now I hope I find the right one tomorrow- the previous owner has all kind of stuff in that side cover...on which I just discovered was modulating lights!  :D

So will it be like a 1/8" (3.5m) female end with a cap?

The 1/8" is the ID of the socket, so of course the OD is much larger, but yes, that's what you're looking for.  The picture above labeled "3mm stereo AUX" is correct.  The cable migrates sometimes, and could be hiding if it hasn't been used before.  The tip to trace it from the radio is a good one.  Find the only (I believe) small cable coming out of the radio, and jiggle it/ gently pull it until you find the end.  If the prev. owner did a lot of add-ons, I wouldn't be surprised if it's already connected to something, though.  Just dig around, you'll find it eventually.

It is probably buried up in front of the battery, not easily seen behind the side cover.

There are two rows of five cables coming out of the front of the radio. The middle cable of one row is very small and that is the one you are looking for. The middle of the other row is a larger cable, not the one you are looking for. The one you are looking for is on the opposite side from the radio label.
