Would You Buy A Cadillac SRX?

Haven't owned an American brand since the early '80's.  Been driving a '94 Maxima for 17 years,  I think that's long enough.  It is mechanically solid, but cosmetically, not so pretty anymore.  So, my wife spotted a 2004 Cadillac SRX that is pretty clean.  It does have 160,000 miles.  Is there anything I should look for?   Or just forget it.

At 160,000 miles, I'd look for something with less miles on it myself.

If it was me, with that many miles, I think I would walk away.

That is just my opinion.

There has to be some around Iowa or the surrounding states with less miles.

Mother-in-law owned one (just traded it for a 2013).  It was very nicely appointed (as you would expect for a Caddie) and she had very few problems with it (DISCLAIMER:  Mominlaw didn't drive it much.  It had only about 40K when she traded it away).

It would have to be one heck of a good deal at that mileage for me to consider buying it.  Most dealers if that is where you are buying it from do not sell too many cars with over say 80K on them ever for a reason.  I'd be concerned about maintenance and what has been done to it with proof of paperwork not just word of mouth.  If no paperwork on maintenance, I'd walk away. 

Cadillac has overall been a less desireable reliable vehicle in my opinion high in initial cost and not any better in reliability.

If it was a very low mile cream puff from someone you knew, and the price was one you could not let go, like wholesale trade in, MAYBE.

I got it for my 50th b-day. (1953 coupe Deville) fins just starting to grow.
I love the '60 model also, fins going the other way, has eluded me so far.

At 160K in a couple of months it will time to look for its replacement...just sayin
