audiovox cruise control help

i have a 2001 valkyrie interstate that i installed a audiovox cruise on several years ago that worked great until now,. after not riding it for a few months while inside my garage i changed the clutch and brake fluids and rode to work.on the way home i ran over a piece of concrete block that fell off a truck .the front tire hit it and i pulled over and did not notice any damage,however after getting back up to speed i decided to try the cruise since i was planning an upcoming trip and it would not engage. the control lights up and the brake lights work. i am not sure if changing the brake fluids/hitting the block or some cruise control part just failed . any  one with experience with this cruise that has had similar problems or have any suggestions. removing the inner fairing covers and gas tank is a chore that i would like to avoid if possible.

First, do your brakelights go out when you release the brakes? might try lubing the pivot points for the pedal and lever. Next, check the ground points and wire connections for the brake and cruize control. The cruize won't set, if it senses the brakes on. Other than that, I can't think of anything other than a bad unit. Not REAL familiar with cruize setup. Hope this helps. Don't forget the front and rear brakes both trip the cruize off

You could have damaged the speed sensor on the front fork. I have a rostra cruise on mine and it takes input from the speed sensor. I don't know if a audiovox does.

Audiovox doesn't use a speed sensor.

If your lights check out ok, look at your connections to be sure none worked loose after hitting the block.

I had a wire break on mine years ago in the small plug that connects the control panel to the servo. It's the small four wire connector that is color coded. It broke at the base of the soldered pin. I removed the whole plug and just soldered and tape the wires and did not havve a problem for yrs.

Not enough information to go on and draw any kind of logical conclusion. If you installed it a few years ago I hope you still have the installation manual. Did you use a N/C relay? Are you getting vacuum to the servo? Is the cable still attached? etc etc. You might as well get prepared to pull the tank and go thru a step by step trouble shooting procedure. Start with the simple things first. ~TJ

It's been a while since it happened to me but it seems to me there was a little spring wire connector from the foot brake pedal to a brake light switch that caused my problem. I know you said the brake lights work, but do they work from both the hand and foot pedal?
