I have a favorite canyon and a favorite turn therein.  I haven't ridden that canyon since I swapped my well worn Dunlops for Avon Cobras several months ago.  This particular canyon has very tight, banked turns and on one of those turns (my favorite), I have previously enjoyed whacking open the throttle, spinning the rear tire and sliding around the turn.  Been doing that for years.  I tried that maneuver today with near disastrous results.  Leaned way over to the left, about 4,000 rpm in second gear, whacked the throttle open...and the damn rear tire didn't spin!  What it did do was grip perfectly and unload the front tire sending me rocketing across the center line of the road.  Luckily there was no opposing traffic.  You may call this "rider error" or "overindulged exuberance"  but I call it defective tires.  Now I'm going to have to explain to my wife that I need a blower for the Mothership so I can properly spin the tire again.  After all, it's a safety issue, right? :coolsmiley:

Ride safe,

Just spray the tire with Armorall (or diesel fuel); that'll get it spinning.

Or, you could just ride in the rain.  :-\

That ain't defective tires, that's a problem with the nut that connects the saddle with the throttle.  ;D

I'm a little more conservative in the rain...a little.
