How do you view yourself?

I was thinking about this and thought about the women and men that I have known in my life. My ex and my current wife never look at themselves with the beauty that I viewed them with. Most that I know both men and women never seem to look at the good more than the bad. We are what we focus on just like the bike will go where we focus on. Most times we are so much more valuable and precious than we view ourselves. I think about so many on this board the rough tough exterior yet inside the caring to help others in need and the camaraderie and laughter that so many here share. It sure breaks the stereo type of bikers. Not to mention the talents of so many here I am always amazed. In our diversity we find common ground in a motorcycle to share the time and thoughts and change the world in the process, one ride at a time. That to me is real beauty.

In my minds eye,...well I'm still that upstart daredevil that got me in a ton of hot water.

But in reality, I'm a stubborn old disabled curmudgeon. I know that my misspent youth may have taken some of my vitality, strength and grace.

But what a ride it's been!

ALWAYS QUESTION AUTHORITY!

Wow!  That's interesting.  It's not particularly surprising, but deeply thought provoking.

That's thought provoking for sure. In many ways we're like an ageless person trapped in a house. Who we are changes very slowly if at all while the house slowly falls down around us and on us.

It didn't happen that way but Evel  Knieval once predicted, "My death will be glorious!"

I'm not sure yet if I want to go out with a whimper or a bang. Those "bangs" hurt!

The Greatest

and sooo humble too

OMG.....someone who takes me seriously??........ :D :D :D

Actually, it was a logical response to your "tongue in cheek" reply. I caught the sarcasm in both you posts.

I still see myself as a 16 year old doing wheelies trying to impress girls , to no avail I might add. Stanley you can't possibly be the greatest because I am the greatest!

Mostly via mirror (I try not to turn around, OK?)

The one variable that sort of throws the whole experiment off in my mind at least is this...The artist knew the person was describing themselves and then someone else so his bias and his "agenda" cannot really be eliminated from the results.  Now if the person was describing themselves in the third person and the artist had no clue which descriptions were self descriptions it may have a different result

I view myself as I see fit and really could care less what others think of me.

It's how you perceive yourself and not what others say about you that matters.

Others may disagree but that's my story and I am sticking to it.

Life's too short to worry about what others think of you.

In my mind I am 25 having fun all the time and ready to tackle the word. Then I look into a mirror and wonder who that old stern man is?

How do you view yourself?

As little as possible.... and then from a distance,   is least distressing.

Grumpy

I get distressed when I look in the mirror,
Darn I used to have a waist, now it is on overhang
I used to have brown hair, now grey and mostly gone.
Used to have muscles, now floppy arms.
Crapp  getting old sucks.  :-\

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you're in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.
