as long as no public funds go to this, I have no problem with it. BUT there better be ZERO public monies going to this in any way. although I know quite a few dogs I'd prefer to keep alive than quite a few people I know.

That's my concern.

I bet if you could see where the money came from there would be a Govt Link.

Well they are calling themselves an organization.  So it may be just a matter of time before they apply for pubic money.  Y-all Texans can afford it!

Good for this organization. Had the privilege of visiting a great aunt over the years. She survived on a fixed income. Still independent in her  nineties, her cat and old chihuahua were her primary companions. Glad to see there are still people out there that still cares about the less fortunate.

we care about those less fortunate, we don't care about those that game the system.

I thought you liked dogs???

I do.

I like people more.

Don't see the point of feeding animals when there are people who need feeding.

Hoser

I'd be more likely to feed the dogs than some of the human debris that I've seen.  Hoser  >:(

If you cant afford to maintain a pet, then you shouldnt have one.  Its the old story, we have to provide everything the less fortunate wants, after all they deserve any benefit that the liberal can feel good about engineering for them.  Whatever happened to the old fashioned idea of personal responsibility and pride of accomplishment??   By the way there would be fewer of the less fortunate if it was harder for them to get by on the dole.  I fully believe in a safety net for the truly needy, but that safety net should not become a comfortable hammock, and should be provided by family first, then friends, church, and community.   Socalisim is a grand idea that will make the world an utopia, only problem is it never has and never will work.

Agreed.

Last week, I over heard one of my co-workers (a cute little lady although that really doesn't matter) telling her supervisor that she had just scored.   Obviously, this got my attention.  Thinking the worst or best, depending on how you perceive that.   Turns out, she had just purchased $200 worth of food stamps from someone she knows for half that amount.  It seems the previous holder of the food stamps needed money for other recreational purposes.   I gotta be honest, it ticked me off.  I learned that the previous holder had two kids and was pawning them off on the grand parents so she could party.   This crap happens all the time.   Those involved teach each other on how to beat the system.   This country is going to hell fast.   I told the co-worker that she was part of the problem by going along with the scheme.   Didn't phase her.   She said, "Well if I don't buy them, someone else will."    As much as I hate admitting it, she is right.

The whole Welfare System needs to be scrapped.   Damn Liberals.   When over half the country hops on the gravy train, those of us who are pushing/pulling it along are getting worn out and tired of doing it all while "others" enjoy the benefits of our labor.   Yeah, hungry folks do steal but, they also look for jobs.  There are jobs available out there, why do you think all the illegal aliens have jobs, they are willing to work.

I posted this before,....My brother worked for a place that buys gold.  They also buy gift and store cards at 50% of their value,....this includes public assistance food stamp cards.  He asked a couple of "sellers" why they are selling and the answers included "They give me too much" and "I can't buy what I want to buy".  The secondary market on public assistance money should be outlawed.  You should have to show legal ID when using public assistance of any kind.  But I guess that would be considered racist, like showing ID when voting.  But, if one can get out of the house and jump through the hoops to get on public assistance in the first place, they should be able to acquire some form of identification, no???

There is often a gap between being correct and being right.  She was probably correct but definitely not right.

As to the original post, I agree with tank.  So long as no tax funds go into it I think it's a great idea, especially if it allows poor elderly people and the children of the truly poor to properly care for a pet.
