whats the near bone stock valkyrie HP at rear wheel?

Understanding the '97 Stds had a couple more HP, it's always been my understanding that most bone stock valks (with everything in perfect order, like intakes, vacuum lines, carbs, valves, yada) were around 95/95 HP/Tq.  Never dyno'd.

I have a couple Harley buddies that want to "try me" because I intimidate them. I love the torque and throttle response the Valkyries have. And I'm dumb enough to give her all she's got. The one Harley guy has spent big bucks so he might have a chance, plus he can ride. The other one I have no worries about. Regardless what happens, mine is basically stock with very little money in it. IF I get beat no big deal...I know a local Valk that has a little invested and putting out some major HP that will shut them up.

Why spend Big Bucks on a Harley that will definitely be a Cash Cow one way or the other . Either by Putting money in it to get it to go Fast  or putting money in it to get it to stop Leaking Oil. I have owned  a Heritage Classic  and I traded it for a Honda Gl1500 Goldwing and some Cash. It was the Happiest Day of my Wife's life. She told me when we got home after the trade that now she knows the difference between a Harley and a Real Motorcycle.

I'm already as fast as my wallet will allow, I could go faster but, I ain't borrowing money just to impress the HD folks, don't care.  In fact, they're the ones that come over and scope out my Valkyrie, they're the ones I see eyeing her out in the parking lot at work.   She's a looker, no doubt about it.  She'll also stay ahead or with just about anything on the road.   Honestly, she's got more guts than I do.   She's never let me down and I'm the one that always saying slow down old girl.    As I've said before, I don't care what you ride but, there's only two kinds of people I won't ride with, LOUD and STUPID.    They seem to ride together a bunch though.   

this is cool, Harley folks come over to your Valk and admire the bike and say cool things about it  because they appreciate nice bikes,,,wonder how many Valk foks return the favor?
edit, this was not pointed at you Blackram.. just a general observation...

I personally do it all the time.  There is a guy at work that has one of the new 110's.  It looks black and silver from a distance, but when you get up close, it is really metallic dark green in the sun.  It is one of those with the fixed faring and dual headlights (a mix of projection and LED).  I tell him that his bike looks good all the time.  He is a buddy of mine, been working with him for about 20 years.  Way cool bike, but a little too rich for my blood.

For some reason, I've never had a HD rider give me the "let's go" signal when out on my Valk.  Maybe because it's an Interstate, they don't think it would be much of a challenge.  I've blown past a few, but for no other reason other than I had come up behind them and maintained the same speed as I passed them.

Now, a few have dropped the hammer as I was coming up on them but I saw no need to pursue them since 1) the loud pipes were disturbing my Moody Blues concert, 2) they would clear out any radar units ahead and 3) I didn't want to adjust the cruise control.  Actually, I've had cars do the same thing - sometimes people don't notice how slow they are going until you start to pass them, then they speed up.

I do know the Valk will go faster than I care to drive it.

I know I am hijacking this thread like crazy but I've got to know, Michael K, what brand lightbar is that on your Valk and do you know where I can get one? That's the first one I've seen that I know will fit my Valk without having to do anything to the Hondaline windshield. Sorry everyone-back to regular programming now.

No longer made and hard as hell to find. And VERY expensive...I've seen some go for so much money, I've even thought about selling mine!

Harley hp can be bumped up with enough dollars. By putting a Stage 4 kit on the 103 engine and other mods, somewhere around $5-6k worth of work and parts,  they will dyno between 100 to 110 hp. That's quite a step up from the stock 60-70 hp and yes, they will move on down the road. A friend that I ride with has done this on his new 2013 Street Glide.

hmmm. So this guy spent HOW much on a 13 Street Glide? Plus $6000 to make it run like my 97 Valk? And my bike is about 10 c.i. short on displacement?

I spent $6500 on my 97 Standard. With 12,000 miles. My bike is currently purple but I also received the OEM bumblebee tank, front fender, rear fender, chrome side covers, driver backrest, cobra and a round style lightbar, Hondaline windshield, 2nd set of chrome fork protectors for the lowers, batwing with tinted and clear shields, chrome and stock kickstand, Clymer manual, locking hardbags, extra footpegs and turnsignals and 2 sets of mirrors, cobra carb and head stem covers, 6 into 6 pipes, 6 degree and OEM trigger wheels, the OEM exhaust tips....and a couple boxes of other stuff like needles, new/old style tank badges and assorted other goodies.

Seems to me....that I came out WAY ahead on that deal, huh?   Plus I don't have to buy HD undies, shirts, pants, boots, wallets, tires, doo-rags, sunglasses and the like to complete the "look" to ride my bike!

I've seen a few HD's that can take me off the line and one did, but I wasn't in the mood to try to race him.  Maybe I don't wind out 1st gear as much as I should, but once I hit 2nd and 3rd, both gears seem to wind out really nice for me several times (and I know this isn't much) but have shifted into 4th gear over 65 mph which am sure it can go much higher in speed. 

I really do like revving out though 2nd and 3rd gear just not 1st gear as much plus I think HD's can go further and faster in 1st gear than our Valks overall I think.

The Cobra light bar is now made of very rare unobtainium and if found, will command very high returns on investment for the seller.  Good luck finding one. 

However, there is another option that I know will work with your OEM shield.  This.....

I still have that light bar on my Valk, but it was also on the bike back when it I still had the OEM windshield on before it's make-over I did to it. 

The windshield will come on and off with that light bar without any problems.  My shield wasn't cut at the bottom......it's a factory Honda OEM windshield.  There's plenty of room for the shield to come off whenever wanted.  They don't interfere with each other at all.

If you're just wanting extra light up front and don't mind a slightly different look, I've got about 105,000 miles on my Wayne's World lighted lowers and still love 'em. Those lil' lights on there put out a LOT more like than you'd think they would:

MY last bike was a Harley, it was way faster than my Valkyrie. Had an 06 Vrod. My wife has an 06 Sportster 1200 Low, its supposed to be the faster air cooled Harley out of the factory, my Valk walks on it pretty easy. I wont dis on any make or model, I have owned most every common brand out there, its all what the rider likes.
