. ...Well....we pulled it off again...our 9th Annual Q in de Woods !

. ...every year its a crap shoot with the weather and this year was no different.
The down side was it rained every stinking  day up to Thursday afternoon...with
freezing temps hovering around 32 degrees at night !

....The up side was Saturday it was 65 degrees and sunny....you couldnt ask for a nicer day !

...And even though temps got low enough Friday night for the bird bath to be *Iced* over
Saturday morning....temps quickly rose and after our Ritual Coffee and McDonalds Breakfast
...Black Dog and I got down to it !

....I just wanna say upfront...that Black Dog (Steve)...has been coming every year for as long
as I can remember...And every year "The Marilyn Room" upstairs is reserved for him. The reason
being that it only with his help are we even able to pull this party off every year ! He and I have done
this so many times that we hardly even need ....Chili,s Supervision on Seating anymore...almost ..

. ....This year we added some...Bike Riding Gnomes !

. ....After the seating was taken care of, Steve jumped on the *Tunes*....which he is in charge
of every year....and does a fine job !

.....After that we start prepping food until a few folks started wandering in.

...Now we have this Rule/Law......who ever shows up first to the party is promptly put to work
as indentured servants and this year I want thank ....Judy profusely, for adding that Southern Magic
to the fried onions and...Oh Yeh...Steve did ALL the bacon up...like I said...this thing could NOT
go on with out his help !

....Then...little by little folks started wandering in..

. ....And before yanno it...it was time to fire up the grille !!!

....On go the BABzzzzz

....a *Secret Mixture*...of cherry and apple wood....and they were smokin away !

...Mean while....Folks slowly began circling the food tables and munching..

...and thats when I suddenly heard what I can only describe as...Music to my Ears...a *Pack* of
Valkyries came menacingly roaring down the street...it was Stitch and some friends of his !
They had come for the Q ...and we were glad they did !

...more and more folks started arriving..

.....Mean while....Al and Bill were sticking close on the deck....waiting..

....and Soon....The burgers were flying and folks were feasting....the Party had begun !

...folks were just kicking back....munching down BABz...and having a good ol time..

...I tried to ask Bill how he was doing...but all I got was him taking a big bite and grinning..

...everyone was chowing down and having a good time..

...BradValk and his father came to hang out for the day..

....George...Pam...Dale...MaryAnne....Andy and Sandy....a lot of good friends had showed up..

....And folks bought ALL kinds of goodies to munch...including some .. *Bodacious Desserts* !!

......Which reminds me..I must file an Official Complaint....It seems Gary ate ALL the chocolate cake !!!

.....Orrrrrr.......was it Bill ?!?!?!?!? ..  :coolsmiley:

...Chili Pepper was having a great day..

.....as was our good friend Black Dog

.....And so the day went...Folks just having a laid back good day of friends and food..

....after a piece of chocolate cake...I wandered out front to check out the bikes....it was sooooo
good to have a bunch of Valks parked out front...and Chili and I were very happy that Bill and Renae and their daughter and son in law...Erin and Jarob also rode...and lets not forget Stitch and his friends all rode in on some Bad Azzz Valks !!!

...Folks were already out here kicking tires....

.....Garys sweet State..

....Bill wanted to try Tracys VTX on for size...then took it around the block...

....Ready to trade Bill ??

....After a while Gary and his group mounted up and took off...They had a long ride back down state..

.....and we were just glad they came.....Thanks a lot guys !!!

...So I wandered out back again where I found everyone had formed a circle and were busy telling some lies..  8)

....Steve, talking with Pam and George..

...I really dig this pic of Pam..

....After a while most everyone got up and said their goodbyes...Michigan is a verrrrryyyy long state..
and just about everyone lives down state....Chili and I were just glad they came up to visit us..

....And so there were four of us left...George and Pam were staying at a motel in town for the night..
......so we fired up the fire pit ...made some drinks....and kicked back for the evening  to tell some
more lies..

...I did get em to pose for me for a second of two..

......George....or ....as I like to call him....The Legendary Momzzzzzzz.....the man has forgotten more
about motorcycles....then I,ll ever know..

.

.......Rock On Momz !!!...

....After a while the sun went down and it slowly grew dark out...So Chili broke out some...Japanese
Lanterns...she had bought just for the occasion...and her and Pam got to ....*lighting up the sky*..

...I believe they were getting into it..  8)

....These things were pretty cool...and the girls were having a blast setting them free...

....It was getting late....the Party was long over....George and Pam said their goodbyes and
called it a night...we stayed up a bit longer until the cold and skeeters started setting in...

....Thirty One Folks had shown up to hang out with us and we appreciate everyone....I had opted
to buy 17 pounds of ground chuck this year for the Q....and we had 2 uneaten burgers left at
the end of the day....Now thats the closest we have ever been to being out of BABzzzz !!!!

.....I want to thank EVERYONE who came to hang out with us on Saturday...You are the ones
that make this so great year after year !!!

...and Chili and I are very thankful for friends like you....   :cooldude: :cooldude: :cooldude: :cooldude:

......until next year ..  8)

~~ Special Thanks to Steve and Judy for your help ~~

Dave n Faith go all out to show all of their guests the very best of times...

Thanks for another great summer kick off  :)

Black Dog
Just when the highway straightened out for a mile
And I was thinkin' I'd just cruise for a while
A fork in the road brought a new episode
Don't you know...

Conform, go crazy, or ride a motorcycle...

hubcapsc

I've always wondered about these things... don't they float away and catch
the forest on fire?

My normal year round attire, except when riding. However, I don't wear flip-flops,.....camo Crocs only.

Yes the "Q" was a great, laid back time. Dave and Faith are as congenial as any hosts could ever be.

ALWAYS QUESTION AUTHORITY!

that sucks fudgie, hope your insurance company doesn't screw you too bad and raise your rates next renewal.  Do what I do ATVing and let my kid lead and only if need be catch up to him and tell him what he is doing wrong.  Group rides sort of scare me when someone I don't know gets a little too close whether on ATV or cycle. The Valk riders are pretty darn good at keeping their distances but been on one HD ride and never again, way too close and drunk idiots for my tastes.

I thought it was metal to metal cause it was loud. Handle bar caught her hand and my engine got her knee/calf. Hand was numb for awhile and she limped for a day or so.

It wasnt on the group ride but on the way down. We take off from a light and the truck to my left is coming over. I then notice the lane shifts as you go thru the intersection. The white lines were so faded they match the color of the concrete road. So i swervre right, and smack right into her. She gets into a shake and pulls out of it. We keep going as I give a thumbs up and she nods. A mile or 2 she needs to stop since her hand was numb.

...Sorry to hear that Brian, but it is part of riding and it happens to all of us
sooner or later. The way I look at it, being in the wind is a continual learning
process, and I never stop "practicing" certain maneuvers and look at every
ride as a "learning experience". But I understand how you feel, having a bad experience
that you blame yourself for or doubt your capabilities...especially with the woman you love,
can cause doubt and apprehension. We all know that this incredible "sport" we
love, can be highly dangerous and even life threatening. But I also believe
that we need to look at every "accident" as a learning experience. I know there
are some in life, that would put their bike up for sale and never ride again after
having a close call.....but I know that you and Kit are not that type. Was it a
close call ?....Yeh...Will Kit recover....Yes. Learn and move on my friend,
we have ALL been there.  :cooldude:
