Brake / Signal oddity

Got one real unusual problem with my valk. When I apply brakes, my signals get partially activated.
When I apply signals, my brake lights get activated. When signals and brakes are used, everything
flashes at twice normal speed for signals.

Now, I come from a strong electrical/electronic background. I will figure it out, eventually.

Would like to know if anyone has experienced this oddity before, might save me some time,
and get back in the saddle sooner.

(Clearly there's some short-circuit between signals and brakes) maybe this has been seen
by someone before.
A guy called me a Ba$tard, I said in my case it's an accident
of birth, in your case you're a self made man.

Did you recently change any/all of those over to LED's?

sandy

And check grounds and bulbs.

Valker

That is almost always a bad ground.
I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.

Check your diode, it's in your fuse box to the right of the fuses, best way to check it is to put another one in, they are about 8.50 at the dealer or try one from some one who owns a Valk, this little fuse handles all the feed back in the electrical systems, how it works, I have no idea...good luck.

Sures sounds like you have a ground problem to me. These systems will back feed on each other to get a ground if the orginal ground is lost. The green wire from any light on the valk orginally is the ground wire. Happy hunting.

I didn't switch to LED, but I did add LED in parallel with the brake light. I now have
about 10 times as much stop light as original.

I'll go hunting for a bad ground right away.

I'll check that diode.

Is it possible that the wires have crossed at the connection in the harness under the seat/in front of the rear fender?

trout dude

check that diode you can check a diode with a ohm meter you can read continuity one way but not the other way. Hope this helps

My most recent problems related to a ground issue.
Just my 2 cents!

I found the problem. It was, as suggested, a missing ground at that connector
under the rear fender.

I couldn't get the fender off, buggered hardware wouldn't loosen out. So I just bypassed the
missing connection with a wire from the battery that I had brought back for my new brake
LED setup. Found a place in the right rear signal to pick up the ground.

Weird what a missing ground can do. Thank-you for all the suggestions.
