So it looks like y'all are averaging 50k or so. How often you you grease her and check the rear end? I know I do when my mc tire wears out. Just curious- thinking about trying it when my Metz wear out. :cooldude:

I do mine every 10k, and check/clean the pinion joint then too.

Until I'm 100% satisfied to what is causing the problem with the pinion cup & shaft, I'm checking mine every 5000 miles...no big deal anyway...

In another thread I posted the severe wear on my drive shaft/pinion cup....about 50% of the splines were eroded. Put it back together using a diluted moly grease/marine  lube and will check it in 5K miles to see how it is doing and perhaps install the new shaft/pc .......still don't understand, 3 intervals of 15K miles and all splines were perfect.  Fourth interval of 15K and the shaft/pc were trashed...... :tickedoff:   Its a good thing a new set (drive shaft and pinion cup) can be had for only about $85.......would rather spend the money on 4 tanks of gas tho.... :(

Once the wear starts on the pinion cup/shaft, they go fast. There is some motion to that joint and wear markedly accelerates it. This one will leave you stranded.

Yeah. I know.....but its kind of like the other day I came into the kitchen from the garage and encountered a broken plate all over the tile floor.  Asked my wife if she wanted me to clean it up for her and she said "no, it was dumb enough to fall on the floor and I am just teaching it a lesson"..!!  So, I guess its my need to exert mastery over the machine and "hopefully teach it a lesson".... :crazy2: :crazy2: (and get a few more thousand miles while waiting on the new parts)  ;D
