I had to do a starter button repair and thought I would get a new replacement until I got a price from my dealer of $85 which also includes the kill switch.Any suggestions or cheaper alternatives would be appreciated.TIA,Hamman

I just serviced mine for the third time in 110,000. I see no reason to replace mine.
I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.

I've had to fix the starter button on our 2000 Tourer once. It has worked perfectly since then. The other 3 bikes have never needed it. I also did RedValk's 1997 Tourer a couple of years ago and it has been working ever since. Unless there is some component in the starter switch that is broken I wouldn't replace it. Just my .02...

Scroll down to the Start Switch Safeguard and read up on it, then do it. Takes a big amperage load off the start switch and easy to do. When I installed the relay for mine, I just mounted it in the headlight bucket. Bolted it down with one of the three bolts/screws that holds the bucket on

They sell on ebay for about $30 max.
I've bought a few spares.
I clean up the older ones and keep them at the ready.
