According to CTNow.com, a Fox affiliate, staffers in Gov. Dannel "Dan" Malloy's office, along with other top state officials and lawmakers worked behind-the-scenes "to withhold records related to the police investigation into the Dec. 14 Newtown elementary school massacre - including victims' photos, tapes of 911 calls, and possibly more."

The effort was discovered in mid-May when the Hartford Courant newspaper obtained an email copy by Timothy J. Sugrue, a top staff member of Chief State's Attorney Kevin Kane. The paper said Sugrue, an assistant state's attorney, discussed options being considered thus far in the email, including any release of statements "made by a minor" - a reference, no doubt, to the children who witnessed the shootings.

In an attempt to justify this outrageous attempt to shield evidence and information from the public, gubernatorial chief of staff Mark Ojakian said in a statement, "A lot of people, including our office, have heard the concerns expressed by the families of Newtown victims, and are exploring ways to respect the families' right to privacy while also respecting the public's right to information."

What happened in Sandy Hook has been questioned from the start due to the number of inconsistencies and other unresolved details surrounding the shooting.

According to multiple eyewitness reports from Aurora, Colorado, including at least one caught on camera by mainstream media news reports in Colorado, James Holmes did not operate alone. There was a second shooter involved. But the media quickly eliminated any mention of a second shooter from its coverage, resorting to the typical cover story of a "lone gunman."

Today, the exact same thing is happening with the Newton, CT school shooting.

And those who follow such incidents closely, you may remember as well that Lt. J. Paul Vance of the Connecticut State Police threatened in December to file charges against any journalists who did not parrot the "official" line. Vance said then that any deviation from that official narrative "are crimes, they will be investigated, statewide and federally, and prosecution will take place when people perpetrating [information at odds with official versions] are identified." See that threat here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=A2CYchmbjeo#!.

Now, it seems, Gov. Malloy and compliant legislators want to put the final nail in the truth coffin about what really happened at Sandy Hook. That is equally tragic.

I have no problem with them withholding pictures of face shot children or the audio of distraught 911 calls from the general public.  If you want them, you should have to prove that you have an actual personal investigative purpose. (similar to the standing you have to have to sue someone)

The families of these children should not have to see their childrens bodies displayed on crackpot conspiracy sites or other blog sites.
