I thought the purpose of war is to go there, get medivial and go home. break things and kill people achieve the goal and get out.

I can tell you what doesn't fit your agenda. The fact that in both Iraq and Afghanistan the enemy deliberately targets civilians in IED blasts and in firefights. Why? Solly because of people who choose to believe every thing they read on their underground BS news sites, Al Qaeda has finely tuned their tactics of information warfare. Do you think they don't have people that peruse forums like this? Do you think they put more stock in what the news says or what the people say? They know if they kill a little girl during a firefight and then call aljezeer that the story will play to Muslim world that Americans targeted and killed a little girl, and intern people like hannibal and GOPsocialist will "find" and "expose" this cover up on forums like this.



It freakin kills me how some people are all about the government and conservative "conspiracies" but you are completely blind in real life conspiracy in which people like Hannibal and GOPsocialist play a roll in constantly since about 04-05 when Al Qadea figured out how wonderful the American 1st amendment is if used properly. I bet when you saw this picture of the Postune man w/ a GSW in the right shoulder you automatically knew that coalition forces shot him. We didn't by the way the Taliban did while fleeing because they know we when there is one plt only we will stop and help, thus allowing them to escape. I wish I could bring some of you into a TOC (tachtical operation center) in Afghanistan while there are troops in contact, you can see the live feed from UAV's, fixed wing aircraft, and rotary wing.  You can hear all the radio trafic and you can hear exactly how far we go to avoid civilian deaths. Did you know that we only actually engage 20% of the the time? Yeah that's right we let the bad guy who was just shooting at us or planting a bomb get away because he is to close to a building or there are people near by. Yes, the soldiers in your country as well as mine will take cover and only engage with our rifles rather then drop a bomb. If the bad guy runs where there are a bunch of people we wont shoot period. Not because we are scared of going to jail but because no one want that kind of blood on their conscience.



You have no idea what goes on in Afghan or what went on in Iraq, and you dont care to know. That's fine it is your duty as a American to question your government all the time, millions have fought and died to ensure that we continue to hold our leaders feet to the fire constantly. But you would be a fool to think that Al Qaeda is not your enemy and does not wish you dead. They hate you, more so then the hate guys like Jimsouth have for them. If they ever got a nuke they would have no other mission except getting it into a western nation. They play you all the time, they have manipulated some Americans sympathy for innocent casualties of war into full fledged sympathy for them. Do you think they want drones with tiny warheads capable of destroying only one building patrolling their skies looking for them? Hell no, A video got removed from youtube fast but I am sure it is somewhere, it is a video shot by an onlooker showing a van with three freshly mutilated bodies in the back pull up 20 mins after a drone strike. The van drivers carefully placed the bodies in the rubble. Sure the US had proof of this and knew we didnt do it however what do you think pro Al Qaeda media showed? Just think about it is all I am saying....I have witnessed the Al Qaeda in Iraq and the Taliban in Afghan shooting civilians for no other reason then to make us look bad.



There is no denying that accidents happen. War is hell and innocent people are killed with the rest of us, however YOUR country's fighting men and women go to extreme lengths to prevent civilian casualties as much as possible. I want the people of America to know that 99% of US military personnel only want to harm the bad guy. I want everyone to know that we try very hard to only get the bad guys and when a mistake is made no one feels it more then us. Do not think wacko psychopaths like SSG Robert Bales, that man was deeply disturbed and is comparable to Adam Lanza or any other mass murder. The Abu Grahab soldiers were POG's and cowards they do not represent the discipline and behavior of US soldiers they are isolated incidents. Do you classify all gays as coke head, aids carriers? Are all blacks members of the crips or bloods? Are all Catholics like Mel Gibson? Are all whites red necks? Do all jews have a ton of money? Then why do some chose to believe all soldiers act like those jackasses.



I am posting this because I am applauded as a soldier with 31 months deployed at the misconception so many have about US forces.

War has changed, at least, our definition of it has. We have not been in a 'real' war since 1945. Anything after that has not been a 'real' war. We are not conquerors, we are supposed to be liberators. I guess our enemies don't realize that, or, maybe they do. Thats why they win. I guess you know I have not been in favor of our recent 'pseudo wars'. I do however support our troops, as well as the rest of the country, which is far different than what I came home to.
