it was a piece of scrap left over from a project we did a few months ago, it was a very close match to top grain cow hide we bought for the same project. it's black, the flash from the camera turned it kinda blue. it's a marine grade vinyl.

You've got to kidding, right?  For a first try that is and excellent job!  I'd challenge anyone to sew a pattern like that even after multiple tries....you're going to only get better....keep up the effort.

seriously, i've been working in an upholstery shop since december last year.
I was inspired by a guy from Tampa I met called Diamond Dave he's been doing auto/motorcycle upholstery for 20 years.
