Out and about.

On an epic motorcycle cruise with the wife.

Started last Sunday afternoon from Cherokee, Iowa and went to Grand Island.
Bit of rain otherwise good ride.

Next day from Grand Island to Castle Rock.
Started with a tour of the Case/International factory in Grand Island.
Just call them up and they will set you up. They make Case and New Holland combines and windrowers there. The great big ones.
Not a mamby pamby tour either. You are on the floor of the place dodging forklifts and stuff and get to see virtually all of the process from fabrication to final assembly on this 2 hour walking tour.
IF YOU ARE IN GRAND ISLAND YOU MUST GET IN ON THIS TOUR!!! OUTSTANDING!

After that we went south and through Kansas. We got to Colby, Kansas about 5 and the temp had cooled down to 105.
Wife had a tough time with the heat.
But we finally made it to Castle Rock, Colorado. In the dark.

We went to Colorado Springs the next day. Garden of Gods and train ride up to Pike's Peak.
Wife couldn't bring herself to make it up there on the bikes.
Place starts on fire and as we leave to go back to Castle Rock we hit the rush hour and fire evacuations on I-25. I-25 was a parking lot at times.
Called it a day.

Went back to the Colorado Springs area and visited the AF Academy on Wed.
One of the fires was in that area and we could see the aircraft droppin their loads on the fire.
I talked the wife into running up to the summit of Pike's Peak.
Great ride and great view. She said it wasn't near as bad as she thought is was going to be.
She had it in her mind that the road became gravel and narrow.
Took long way back to Castle Rock.

Thursday we had a 930 tour of the Mint in Denver. Not impressed. Definate pass.
Denver rush hour was fun.
Did the Coor's tour. Pretty good one.
Came back through the back roads.
Wife's aunt lives in Littleton. 90 years old this weekend. So we stopped and seen her.

Friday rode the back roads as we moved our operation to Loveland.

Went through Rocky Mountain Nat. Park on Sat.
Wow. We got snowed on briefly. Saw a Moose cross the road.
Around Grandy Lake we stopped for a break at a gas station and there were two other Valk's getting gas too. Couple guys from the Omaha area heading out to Salt Lake City.
Didn't get their names.

This morning we left Loveland and are in Custer, South Dakota. Gonna cruise the Black Hills tomorrow and the Badlands on Tuesday on our return.


one observation 
Way to many cars in the Denver area all driven by the clearly insane.

Glad to hear ya made it through Denver all in one piece.

Have friends in Castle Rock, & Mifit (Damon) Colorado State Rep lives in Colorado Springs.    Might of been able to hook ya up with Damon.

I went through the Coors Plant many many moons ago.   It was very interesting to me then.
