Good morning all,

Planning on going to Inzane this year, can't wait.   I'm actually visiting family in Michigan for a couple days prior and will be taking the Badger from Michigan into Manitowoc, WI.   Can anyone recommend a route other than 90?  Something scenic  would be great.   Thanks.    Brad

We took that route two years ago only in the opposite direction.  The Badger docks in Manitowoc.  Directly west is the monster lake Winnebago which you have to get around.  I recommend taking US-10 out of Manitowoc which heads NW and takes you North of the lake.  You can then pick up US-41 South into Oshkosh.  Pick up some overalls there as well as WI-21 West all the way Sparta.  From there WI-16 takes you the rest of the way.  You have to get on I-90 the last few miles in order to get to French Island.

Stay away from going north around Lake winnabago, when you get to the lake it becomes busier than hell and Oshkosh just had major surgery on 41 lots of rounabouts. My Daughter lives there.  I'll give you a couple different routes with times (no time for gas pee stops) holding to the speed limit will put you ahead of the ETA a little but its close. If I figure a hair faster then you'd have to be under the gun.      Take 151 to Fond Du Lac, hook onto 23 west straight on into 82 west to 90/94 at Mauston. Go  ( N. on 90/94 about 45m 7 left on 90 t0 LaCrosse which is boring 4 1/4hr.) You could go through Mauston stay on 82 to Elroy. Then take 71 w. to sparta and then hook on to 16 w. to Lacrosse. this route will take you 216m. and 4 3/4 hrs.,You'd really enjoy that.    Another nice route is when you get to Elroy go south on 80 to Union Centrer then w. on 33 straight into 162 going to Bangor and  jump on 90 for the last about 20 miles. This will take 5min. more than the other route. you'd like that too.

If you're looking for scenic I recomend State Hwy. 60   It's a bit out of your way and maybe slower but it runs all the way across the state and ends up in Prarie Du Shien.
Some of it runs along the Wisconsin River so it's a bit twisty.
You can pick up Hwy 60 about 80 miles south of Manitowoc on I43.
If you're not in a hurry I always likes it.
DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

Thank you all for your input.   Now to get out my map,  make some decisions and finish the planning.  Oh yeah and wait 3 1/2 weeks!   Brad
