I had my taxes prepared by liberty tax (never again!  :tickedoff:) part of picking up my taxes late is my fault I should have asked how much it was going to cost ($297) I told them they would have to wait for a while for me to save up that much.
adding insult to injury I owed the IRS $1097
flash forward to when I paid my bill and picked up the final tally 1 hour ago.... oh by the way they didn't figure it up right the first time and I owe 'a little bit more'

now I owe 1382, I'm just this side of popping a hose  :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

 ???   Is it still April?

Spend some money on a tax program (Turbo Tax or Tax Cut, something) and do your own.  Hell... I'll send you my tax program and can do you own and see if you get away with less taxes (already know you won't have to pay the prep fees).

this time I had a LOT of different tax docs, 1099 and other income from sources like my maintenance fund I needed someone to figure it out for me.
next year won't be a problem.
they only charge you .5% interest per month if your late.

yeah that does kinda make you wonder!

Serk

Yeah, general rule of thumb, if it's too complex for you to do it yourself with software, it's too complex for the foam statue of liberty costume folks, get a real CPA. It might cost more up front, but it'll prolly save more than the difference on the back end.

(Besides, I can't stand Liberty Tax just because of the oxymoron of their name!)

smacks of desperation doesn't it?  maybe other liberty franchises are better in other places but I'm doing my own from now on.
