stable is the term we were looking for, and recieved from the doc yesterday. we looked at her CT scan and the tumor in her neck is not shrinking or growng. we of course were hoping for the shrinking part, but it remains inoperable because it's intertwined with the carotid artery. she is going to cut back even further on the sugar. (I'm wondering if there is a cause/effect of sugar intake and cancer incidence?) we had good odds the tumor would shrink and it has, we are just hoping for a lot more.

I have lost another pound, I hope to keep losing a pound or two a month. so far since I started keeping check using the doctors office scale I went from 126.2 kilos to 125.2 and now 124.6. or around 274 lbs. since I had at least 5lbs of stuff on I'm under 270  :cooldude:

Stable is good, and I am very happy for you.  There is a new generation of cancer treatments out there now though that is very promising.  It is targeted theraphy that differs from regular chemo that attacts the whole body, it goes after the cancer on a genetic level, and attacts it directly without the damage and side effects of normal chemo.   These are in the experimental stages now, and are not available everwhere, mostly in the major cancer centers.  I am in one of these programs at MD Anderson in Houston, and have done a couple of rounds of the surgery/chemo regimen in the past.  When the last round was ineffective I got into this as a last resort.  So far it seems to be working, have had some shrinkage, and absolutely no spread or growth.  Ive been fighting cancer since 2004, first was Prostate, then 2007 was mesothelioma in the abdomen.  Thought I had them both beat, but the meso came back a couple of years ago.  The program consists of extensive testing, combined with a pill regimen, for the first month the tests, CT, pet, ekg, and blood are weekly, then go to bi weelky, then its monthly for blood and ekg and bi monthly for ct,   May be worthwhile to look into if the condition starts to deteriorate.  No platitudes, but there are many factors that go into this fight.  Attitude, prayers, support from friends and family, the willingness to take a very active role in your treatment, and most of all never ever accept or adopt the poor me attitude.  In other words do not embrace the disease, never say my cancer, reject it with everything in you.  It all matters.  Will have you guys in my prayers,  hoping for the best.

Tom, good news. I know you were hoping for it to have shrunk, but it hasn't enlarged so that's a step forward. Keep up with the weight loss as well, I'm trying to drop a few myself but Rita is such a good cook....just hate to insult her by not eating her preparations.  ;D

To musclehead, I pray that your wife continues on her path to total healing and recovery. I'm also trying to shed a few. For me, walking is the best form of exercise. I try to aggressively walk about 2.5 miles on my lunch break. If you don't currently walk, you might try it and find you have more energy and feel better as your heart gets used to it. Gook luck to you both.

Master Blaster, I hope you have continued success in your battle and can one day be cancer free again. God Bless all of you!

I walk a couple of miles everday at work, it's not the same as walking for exercise. my weightloss seems to be from a suppliment called green coffee bean extract, works fast for some seems to work slow for me (which is better in my book)

my wife Emma just had her treatment yesterday, it has knocked her down pretty much for 24 hours now. she'll feel better in a couple of days.
