Hooked up with my ridin' bud Paul ( Wimp ) and for the first leg of the ride Lance joined us and rode with us across The Blue Ridge Pakway to Looking Glass Falls. Lance was ridin' a Kawasaki 250 " something " and claimed it got 60 plus MPG . He also owns a rare black Valkyrie Interstate. The weather was perfect in the mountains I even put a jacket on twice Saturday. These first pictures are from The Blue Ridge Parkway.

Below is Look Glass Falls ...Height: 60 feet
One of the most popular waterfalls in Western North Carolina, Looking Glass Falls is actually a stunning 30-foot wide cascade over a sloped 60-foot surface of polished granite — Looking Glass Rock. It resembles a mirror (or "looking glass") in the winter, as water freezes on its sides and reflects the sun. Looking Glass Creek flows past the falls through Pisgah National Forest.

This one below is one of my favorites .... Whitewater Falls
Height: 411 feet
Whitewater Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. These amazing falls plunge over 400 feet into the river below. Because of the rugged terrain with steep slopes and rock cliffs, the area is mostly wild. Undisturbed by man, many varieties of ferns, mosses, fungi flourish, along with beautiful native plants, wildflowers and berries.

The bikes inside Bridal Veil Falls....Height: 120 feet
This unique waterfall cascades right over Highway 64 and sometimes features a rainbow in the afternoon sun. You can either view the falls from the highway or drive right underneath them. Bridal Veil Falls is one of three main waterfalls in the Cullasaja Gorge.

Dry Falls

Height: 75 feet
Part of the Cullasaja Gorge in the Nantahala National Forest , Dry Falls earned its name because you can take a trail to walk behind the falls and not get wet (don't count on that last part). This is a massive, thundering waterfall that is not to be missed!

Lower Cullasaja Falls
Height: 250 feet
The rushing waters of the Cullasaja River flow over the Lower Cullasaja falls, in the Cullasaja Gorge. At 250 feet high, these falls are spectacular and are part of the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway. They can easily be viewed from the road; it is not safe to try and hike down to the base of the falls.

We rode by Sliding Rock Falls but the place was packed and cops was parked at the road so we headin' on for our overnight into Georgia.... We hit The Great State Of Tennessee, North Carolina , South Carolina and Georgia on this awesome ride .
Length: 60 feet
Managed by the US Forest Service, Sliding Rock is a natural rock slide with a pool at the bottom to catch those who take the plunge. Cool rushing water flows at 11,000 gallons per minute over the smooth granite face of the rock. Lifeguards and staff are on duty during the busy summer season. Located in Pisgah National Forest, Sliding Rock is a thrill for kids of all ages.

" The Money Shot " Taken at Hwy 64 north The Highlands at Lower Cullasaja Falls.

Just when the highway straightened out for a mile
And I was thinkin' I'd just cruise for a while
A fork in the road brought a new episode
Don't you know...

Conform, go crazy, or ride a motorcycle...

Thanks for posting this.  White Water Falls is an absolutely spectacular sight.  You've got a pretty good knack for capturing great photos.

I made some of this route several years ago, but I didn't get to experience any of it from the back of the world's greatest cruiser.  My view was limited to what you could see from behind the wheel of an old bucket-truck with its transmission going out.

I really need to go back, cause seeing the pictures you posted, shows me I missed out on a lot of the beauty of that area.  I do remember how helpful and friendly some of the locals were, especially the couple who went 40 miles out of their way to take me to get some transmission oil.  They wouldn't take any gas money after saving me from possibly a long night stuck out in the sticks.

Nice pictures!! I have done that ride myself on both the bike and the cage. Too bad about sliding rock..very interesting place for those who have never been there. Looks like it was a great day for a ride!

Great post Joe !!!!

There is one just outside from Roan Mountain State Park in Tennessee called Elk River Falls.

Pics below are from just after Kentucky Ride last month.

About 25 years ago I jumped off this Falls. Will NEVER happen again.

---or publish it where we all can see it.  I wouldn't mind taking this ride this fall when the leaves are changing colors.
