trailering my Valk question

First off I know that I should never trailer my valk, only ride it.....

I have to trailer part way to Inzane this year.   I have a chariot motorcycle trailer with built in ramp.  Other than using straps around the triple trees,  running straps fore and aft,  not strapping to handlebars,  is there anything else I need to know.  I thought I had read somewhere about draining the carbs but wasn't sure if I still needed to do that with a Pingel and a Dan-mark solenoid.  I figured somebody on this board must have trailered in the past, although they may not want to admit to it!    Thanks for the advice as usual.     Brad

I went to Valdosta GA to get mine,, trailered it home. Four points, lower trees in front and grab bar in rear,,, pulled the front wheel into the trailer so it could not slide forward with braking. I removed the bags and sidecovers as I did not trust them being I did not know the bike. No problems.

Don't use the kickstand....use a wheel chock with kickstand UP....

Wrap tape (I use orange electrical) around the hooks.  When the trailer bounces the hooks can't drop out loosing a strap.  Also tape any excess strap down.

Excellant advise.  A loose strap end will beat/rub the paint off anything.

+1 and it badly frays the strap. Don't ask how I know

Here is a How To for a GW, but most should apply to a Valkyrie or any bike. Somethings will be hard, like fastening to the passenger grips, which the Valks don't have unless you have added after market ones.

Look for soft ties. A buddy had them. They are about a foot long web material with loops on both ends. Loop them around the top of the tree or any other point you use to hold down the bike and attach the metal tie down strap to it.
When hauling two bikes my crash bar gets close to side frame of the trailer. I pad it and strap the crash bar tight to the frame. No movement.
No loose straps.
Check the tongue weight. On non motorcycle trailers the trailer wheels are to far back and the bike is to far forward.
I run the bike bit to use up some of the gas in the carbs. Before starting I pull the plugs a turn it over to blow out any gas that has gotten in the cylinders.
