tar snakes

well I bin on 2 wheels for over 40 years this is a first. parked the fat girl in front of our favorite restaurant . had a good breakfast got on her and down the road we went. 
          the wife taps me on the shoulder and seize what's that noise coming from the rear end.
   when I tried to stop I had NO REAR BRAKES they felt tight but no stopping. still had good front breaks . got off and looked and what did I see . well when I parked at the restaurant the must have just did road repair there was a big ass tar snake raped around my disk and all up in the calipers. a friggin mess tried to peal the s**t off not good got enough off to keep from getting hot on the 50 mile ride home still now rear brakes but we got home safe put her up on the stand and tor her down man what a mess  took 4 hr to strip her down and clean her up that stuff was every where . so now there is another reason to watch for them dam tar snakes if I could figger how to put a pic I have some

  man fubar, that doesn't sound like tar snake I am familiar with.  around here in the desert and up into mtns in the summer they are just tar stripes in cracks in the road.  in the summer when they are hot they can give you a little quick slide out to the side on curves.  a little brief scare, but no big deal as rear wheel gets traction again immediately after passing over tar.

  what you describe seems like something different.  like big gobs of tar before gravel is put down on road.  sounds like a mess.  had something like that in Glacier Nat Park with about 15 mi of road repair and lots of scraping and cleaning after.

The tar snake that I know is a sealing liquid compound that sticks to the pavement.   It must be something else.

That sounds like a tar truck had parked somewhere and he run over the glob of crap they leak off.

It is nasty sheet also, as it won't fling off as you go down da high way.   It just wrap itself around what ever it is on..
