After hearing about Gig's near disaster I am thinkin of getting roadside coverage

The AMA looks like 35 mile limit which aint much
GWRRA looks like 100 miles with rescue plus included with motorcycle only membership

Am I correct and if you have GWRRA are you happy with it?

Want to order monday so I can be covered before heading to inzane

I have AAA Plus RV coverage (required for motorcycles, but also covers all your cars).

AAA is good for a 100M. for the $85.

If it's just roadside assistance (towing, etc), you might want to check with your insurance provider. 

I konw Progressive offers it and I actually used it for the first time last month. 

All I had to do was call the 1-800 number and they took it from here.

I had Progressive and HRCA but neither could get their contractors to come get me one evening with a rear blow out.  I dropped em both the following day after I got my bike home myself.   I now have AAA Plus RV. I believe they have their own dedicated service providers. Not yet used them for the bike, but I have for the truck and they responded quickly and with a flat bed as I asked (to get it positioned right up my driveway).   I think if you get the Executive or whatever it is above the Plus RV then the mileage is 200 miles (might just be an upgrade option).

I have some duplication, with State Farm and also member of AMA includes towing.  Never used either, don't know if I will be surprised if I do.  I should look into it, might be a nasty surprise.  I'm about to take a big road trip, might swing by Inzane since it could be on the way with a little detour.

I have it and have used it 3 times in the last 8 years.
First time(2005) was on my GL1000 in Mexico, Maine on a Sunday night. rear flat (Bridgestone Spitfire)..it was tough to find cell coverage and after we did we weren't or they weren't able to find anybody to find anyone come out (Sunday evenng )and get us via Rescue plus..We flagged down a flatbed tower and he got us to the dealer...Resuce plus suggested this and I was reimbursed for it. Back on the road with a new rear next morning

Second time (2006) I was on the Thruway near Kingston i got a sudden loss of air from a road hazard on my rear tire(E3) on the Tourer. I made the call and the flatbed was there within 45 minutes. Taken to the dealer in near Kingston and was back on the road with a new rear tire in 2 1/2 hours.

Third time(2007) was in northern California on I-5 on the tourer on a new ,at the beginning of the trip, E-3 that got got sliced by a road hazard at 65 mph. Instantaneous loss of air. Rescue plus had me at the dealer in 45 minutes and the dealer had me going 6 hours later .

Yes I would recommend Rescue Plus

After an incident on the road a few years ago involving a horse trailer I was towing where both my auto insurance tow coverage and AAA tow in coverage didn't get anyone to respond for seven hours, I dropped both of them.   I had a flat in a construction zone on the horse trailer and with no where to pull over, the other axle on the same side tire blew within a mile.    I had to drop the horse trailer (with two horses in it) on the side of the road, pulled both tires and went to find a Sears or Wal-Mart about ten miles away.   

I later went back and got my tow in insurance again but, I'm convinced it really depends on the tow company as to whether or not they want to respond.   In my situation, it was more hassle to them than it was worth.

+1...  I used it twice for my Valkyrie. The driver was also motorcycle rider, dispatched with a motorcycle trailer and an F-350 who knew how to secure a bike. I won't leave home without it. Very pleased both times with the service provided

Somewhat ironic, but I dropped AAA many many years ago for exactly the same reason.  I was a broke sailor returning from leave and their "dedicated service" for that area was unavailable (out deer hunting according to his spouse).  Was told to find another service and AAA would reimburse me.   Did that and submitted the paperwork, but they only reimbursed pennies on the dollar.  Seems they forgot to tell me of the ridiculously low maximum reimbursement rate.

I should probably get over it as most folks speak highly of AAA, but I haven't.

It'd be interesting to see insurance company data regarding success and failure rates when responding to roadside assistance requests.

I would imagine there have been issues with any Roadside Assistance provider, but HRCA and Progressive use contractors and probably the same ones in each area.  I believe AAA has their own dedicated drivers in my area, I see AAA trucks, and the one that got my truck back home was.   The flat was at night in an old country road area with no cell coverage... and that was the worst.  Fortunately I pulled over in a Tavern parking lot and the bartender let me use one of her portable house phones for hours.

I have Progressive Insurance.  I believe it is $7 to add towing, which is to the dealer of your brand of mc.  ie, to a Honda dealer, not to a HD dealer!

Used once about 70 miles west of LaCrosse.  They loaded the IS and sidecar, and took us back to the LaCrosse Honda dealer.  Signed a paper, and no cost at all.

I do not think any use dedicated tow trucks.  I believe they all just contact local carriers.

A friend showed up with a new tire from Wing Ding, and the guy in the book came and opened his car tire shop on Sunday, July 4 weekend to change it. I don't leave home on the bike without it, even took it on a 2 week cage trip this summer.

Had an issue with the truck about five miles from home.... Called them...
Ask them to call a local firm that was about three miles away that I know contracts for them....

They told me they couldn't find his number...
I had just given it to them....

they called me back and told me they were dispatching a service from over two hours away......
I told them to forget it the guy I had told them about was already there hooking it up... I was MOST unhappy with them.... Oh yeah, and even though the guys was on their approved list, they weren't oing to pay the bill because they didn't dispatch him....

We let AAA drop after that.

I am member of GWRRA and have the rescue plus, never have used it, but do enjoy the feeling of having the goldbook with me and read the monthly stories of people being helped by fellow riders, the rescue plus came highly recommended by a co worker who used it..I imagine each service has its good testimonies and horror stories.

My wife's old bike stopped on he expressway while she was going to attend a MSF class and she called me to get he bike to a service area (her instructor saw that she was stranded and took her to the class).

We have Progressive Insurance with towing, so I called and waited for the Flat bed to show up. Eventually he came and he stared at the bike, then asked what model HD it was. I told him that it was a Honda Gold Wing.
He said that he was only certified to pick up HDs. I thought he was joking, but he insisted that he could only load Harleys.

I also have AAA Plus, called them, and they were out in no time and off to a shop at least 60 miles away. No problems with AAA Plus.

I complained to Progressive about the drivers lack of cooperation and was told that a times towing services have their own set of rules. SCREW PROGRESSIVE!
