Batwing fairing vs Windshield

Has anyone put a Memphis Shades Batwing fairing on a Standard Valk.??? also does anyone have any input about a batwing fairing vs just a windshield ???  I have a very small wind deflector and want something to cut out some of the wind...... also thinking about lower fork wings.....
Any imput is welcomed.....

I have a Tourer with the OEM shield. Never rode one with a batwing. As for fork lowers, I have Baker Air wings. Fork lowers can't be adjusted on the road for changing conditions. Air wings can be reached in case of rain. My shield has been replaced with a stock height Clearview tinted, with a vent.

As far as lowers go.  I also have Bakers.  I ride with no WS and the Bakers can almost always tune out helmet buffeting.

I have a MS fats 17 inch windshield and lowers that match. The transitional purple worked well for me as it compliments the bike's color. I like the looks of batwings and would probably have one except the expense with painting and all just couldn't be justified.  :-\

Well it sounds like the lowers or bakers do a good job but still not sure about windshield or faring..... haven't checked how much it would cost to paint one...... maybe better do that.

It depends on what you want in a batwing fairing.  I highly recommend the Woodys fairing.

Whether you go with a fairing or a windshield....and if you're wanting to block the wind, you'll still want to invest in a set of Bakers AND a set of fork lowers/deflectors.

In the 16 yrs of having my standard , I have had a NC windshield , a Bob Dron fairing and currently a MS batwing with a 5" shield . I like the MS best because itgives me the best of both worlds , plenty of air on hot days and something to tuck in behind in a rain storm . The Bob Dron was similar but not as sturdy and the tinted shield was flimsy and expensive . The full shield gave better coverage but cooked me on hot days ! The MS batwing is contoured better than most batwings and seems more aerodynamic with less wind resistance and gets better mpgs on hiway . In my opinion of course . The quick release is also very nice . You can get 5",9" or 12" tinted or clear shields . Its a keeper for me .

I had a highly desirable Valkyrie-specific Hoppe fairing on my bike for a couple
of years, but I took it off while I was fooling with a Cobra lightbar. I ended up
admitting to myself that I liked riding the bike better without the extra weight
of the Hoppe. I ride with a shorter-than-stock Clearview shield now...

I swear by the Memphis Shades batwing with recurve windshield and lowers.  I needed a little higher recurve, so I purchased the Longrides recurve for the batwing.  Refer to old post:

I love the batwing fairing on my Harley, and the fairing on my Valk Interstate. I would not go back to a regular windshield again on any of my bikes. The fairings function much better, and look better IMO.  :cooldude:

I prefer batwing over windshield, blocks some wind, but still gives a feeling of being in the wind, if that makes sense :)

All of these helpful comments really make a difference in making a choice...... Thanks and keep them coming.  Now I need to get hold of a body shop and see how much the charge to paint one of these........

I haven't posted a picture in a while, but my Batwing started out with the tallest windshield Memphis Shades has, 12" I think. At 6'2", I've had to look over or under the top and I recently tried the tallest Spoiler they offer.
I hated it! It was too short, leaned too far back and created way too much noise and turbulence to keep it on. My test ride was 60 miles and I wish it wasn't that long.

So, I cut down my original windscreen an inch and it works like it should. I should have done this long ago.

My Batwing fairing is much better to ride behind than the Clearview windshield that was on the bike when I got it years ago. After riding Goldwings for 20 years, the change back to a fairing was just right; more wind and water protection for all body parts. The lowers help with buffeting too and add to the overall look, I think.

My wife keeps talking about putting a fairing on her Fatboy, but isn't sure about the 'LOOK'. For long distance riding, a fairing is the way to go.

I wrote a review to the Memphis Shades website and they are sending me a newer version with less rear lean angle and I might try the Longrider if the replacement Spoiler doesn't work either.
