MUNCIE — Police say a Muncie felon recently released from prison brutally raped, beat and robbed a pregnant employee at an adult novelties store late last week.

Travis L. Marlett, 25, 3411 N. Dalinda Lane, is preliminarily charged with rape, armed robbery and criminal confinement.

The incident — which was purportedly captured in its entirety on surveillance video cameras — was reported just before 1 a.m. Thursday at Cirilla's, 601 E. McGalliard Road.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Marlett — dressed in a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and wearing khaki cargo pants, camouflage gloves and dark-colored sunglasses — entered the store and asked the alleged victim for assistance finding an item's price. When the woman approached Marlett, he "grabbed her around the waist as if he was (trying) to pull her closer to him."

The victim — who at that point told the suspect to "stop touching me," according to the report — was then pushed into the wall before Marlett discharged an electroshock weapon on the left side of her stomach. After the woman told Marlett, "Stop, I'm pregnant!" he reportedly tried to shock her neck and then "punched the clerk in the stomach three times and bound her hands behind her back with tape."

According to court documents, Marlett then pulled down the woman's pants and underwear and sexually attacked her before cutting the tape off her hands and demanding $350 of the store's money.

The victim also told officers Marlett "assisted" her in "cleaning up the 'mess' he said 'she' made when he pushed her into the wall," which caused some items to fall to the floor. The Muncie man then walked the woman out to her car, where he "told her to wait there until he was gone."

Marlett reportedly ended the encounter by telling the victim to "Have a nice (Fourth) of July."

Another Cirilla's employee later told detectives Marlett had recently been in the store when she was working and made her feel "uncomfortable" by asking her for a car ride back to his house.

definition of rape can include 'with an inanimate object'... so it isn't actually necessary for anybody to 'fall on their sword' so to speak to fulfill the 'rape for a rape' act of vengence.

Ive said this to these kind of reports before.  Take the individual in to the woods.  Nail appendage to tree stump.  Set tree stump on fire. Leave individual with old rusty spoon.  The problem will solve itself one way or another.

Perhaps.  But the fitter man had control of the fatter man in short order, and could have gone right for the gun first with deadly results for Z.  OC still broadcasts your armament to all with eyes and evil intent.
