Can I ask the guys  that have done this  if it made a big differene ,also was it necessary to replace the O Rings on the bottom of the Intakes or can the old one be reused if they looks ok,it does make sence to me to do it, polishing intakes have always reaped  benifits in power and mileage and the process on our bike is soo easy .Thanks guys P.S. any tips on what ya all used would be welcomed  :coolsmiley:

From all the posts I remember about this.  It seems to me that the consensus is that its not worth the time or the effort

I smooth them up, I don't polish them, I like to keep them a bit rough. Can't tell you whether it really works or not. It works on bigger engines, but, I doubt there is much difference in these.

As for the O rings, it's good to replace them anyway since they are a regradable item and easy to do.

The O ring size is a #123 and spec them in Viton or Silicone. Find a local O ring/seal supplier.

Polished my first valk back in 99. I did not notice any improvement.

makes a difference. I had to lower the idle rpms after and my mpg did go up a few.
however, I polished them to 320 grit, 400 is best but flapper wheels at the time only went to 320. only use the 60 grit on the short radius side, this will balance the flow. take a look at any other motorcycle and the rubber intake manifolds are very smooth, ours should be also. 400 grit is what is used and recommended by weber carbs.
