Light Paint scratches on tank

01 standard.  Black.  refueling.  slight spill over onto tank.  Thoughtless, and then I used a paper towel from the station dispenser.  Idiot.  Light scratches.  Definitely not through the clearcoat but visible.  What can i use to buff it out.  ideas?

You should be able to get those out with automotive polishing compound.  Rub and check, rub and check.  Then polish with good wax.

You might even be able to get those with a "cleaner wax".  Some labels say non-abrasive.  Others say something like "cleans and polishes" or "cleans and shines".  That would be about as gentle as you could get while still addressing the mild scratches.

I use colored Turtle Wax.  My I/S is black and the black wax covers the light scratches completely.  There is also a stick of wax that comes with the bottle of liquid wax that will fill in any deep scratches.

The black liquid wax goes on just like any other wax.  No special effort needed.

On my new to me Valk i have some marks where the PO had a tarp over it and some rub marks. Found a place by my buddys house that will color sand and repolish for about 50 bucks there in Dallas..

I have used a metal polish called blue magic.  It does wonders on light scratches and smudges on paint too.   Just rub very lightly and repeat until just perfect.  Never leaves a swirl or anything........

I always use a wax with black Nano particles. It fills minor scratches. Also (at least in Germany) there is Nano polish available, which should polish minor scratches out of the clear coat, and is not to abrasive.

My wife bought me some Mequires Scratch X. I told her this stuff don't work, but I'll try it anyway. It does a real good job on the light scratches. Worked way better than I thought.
